Dawulf

I heard the same thing... someone was freaking out in one of the Facebook groups about it, claiming that is proof that the competition is rigged, etc. etc.

Anyone know what happened? Thinking

by hexe on 12 October 2014 - 03:10

Bundishep, I doubt that Deb Zappia will POST her view of what took place with the tracking in this event ANYWHERE, or that she'd ever even discuss it with any casual acquaintence or friend. I expect the only people who will be privy to those thoughts will be her immediate inner circle...and that's as it should be.

It's simply good sportsmanship, and those who don't practice it won't get far in any type of competition, whether it's IPO trialing or a hopscotch tournament.

no comment about it would indeed be the smarthest thing to do but this has nothing to do with good sportsmanship only thinking about further career in sports, just look at the scores recieved

leaves the question is wusv of such high level or did christmas come very early fore some at hagenau

and by this sinds this is my first post in a long time congrats to usa team on the results at fci world championschip well deserved and it wont be the last time keep up the good work

Yes, looking at the results is quite interesting, just as watching the event live last year and looking at the results was also interesting.

That Hank dog certainly does seem to have quite the supply of charisma, or something. Looks like it's pretty much another lock for him again this year.  Haven't watched the livestreams this year, so can't speak as to how sharp or dull the judges' pencils were, but last year that sure wasn't the dog I thought was going to come out as the top one based on what I saw over the three days on the trial field. [Admittedly, I didn't join the trek out to the tracking fields last year, so I was basing my impressions only on what was performed in the stadium.]

Interesting factoid about the Irish dog, handled by Padraig Flanagan...the dog is rated severely dysplastic in BOTH hips and elbows. Would never have guessed it when watching the dog work last year, especially over the jump--he has beautiful form in his approach, take-off, suspension and landing, as lovely as any top-notch Irish hunter-jumper equine.

Edited to add: Just so there's no misunderstanding, I think that Hank Weinbergblick is a fine dog, easy on the eyes and impressive on the field. I just felt I saw better performances than his in both stadium phases, that's all. The dog does seem to have had a sense of humor, however, judging from his phase 3 performance at the 2010 Bundessiegerprüfung. Wink Smile

It would be a travesty if politics prevented a better score for a deserving dog.

by kyto on 12 October 2014 - 18:10

correct blitzen, but i question the number of 96+ results i can only hope one day we see all those dogs competing in all breed trials (some of them do allready but they are very few)

i would guess that dog's scoring this high should also quallify for wc against mali's etc,... i saw some video's of certain dog and even on video you could see that it wasn't 96+ scores especially in B (can also be the fact that i did only see those video's and that judging was in fact very much the same exept some dogs)

i wasn't there and on video you can only see so much so i can't tell, but i have serious questions about it

if my questions are legit than i fear for the future of GSD, if politics are changing the results this much, they are changing breeding results we all know a WC dog gets a lot of matings based on that title but if a lesser dog gets those matings instead of a far better dog based on politics......than it's even worse  than knowingly using a stud that has more unhealthy than healthy offspring

or what about a nervous grip etc, etc you dont expect nervous grips of a 96+ scoring dog on a WC if you import sperm to get your calm gripped female insemminated by that dog

breed enthousiasts be it WL/SL should react against this kind of stuff be it about ipo or show it doesn't matter, hammer on the table an remind breedclubs there main reason of excisting is to improve the breed not multiply and cash in while they do it

What's an all breed trial?

by hexe on 13 October 2014 - 02:10

matt, I think kyto is referring to events such as the FCI Weltmeisterschaft.

by mklevin on 13 October 2014 - 03:10

The dogs that compete in the WUSV don't compete in the FCI.

The selection process for most of the countries is the top dogs to the WUSV and the next closest to the FCI.

Judge stated handler help on all 3 articles for Iron that the line was checked...  Interestingly, I hear if this had not happened team USA would have won.
