It is beyond me, how in the world can these beautiful animals show up in rescue or shelters without their owners claiming them....This is sickening.......

Several nice looking GSDs on there.  It's a real shame.  As much as I love puppy breath, we need to stop breeding so many litters.  This is where they end up if we don't have buyers lined up first (and I don't mean just anyone with a check book).  It breaks my heart and such wonderful animals should not be discarded like yesterday's trash.  Grrrrr

The sad truth of the matter is that to far to many people, animals are completely, "disposable". I don't know why I torture myself watching shows like animal precinct, or ANY of the rescue shows on animal planet.
In far to many instances, even the rescuers are only driven by money.(PLEASE DO NOT interpret that as my saying ALL rescue is about money, there ARE a GREAT deal of people out there that do this because they really care).
I have seen first hand, where the rescued animals ended up in WORSE conditions than what they were supposidly rescued from.
Comment removed by moderator Fenris. The situation you mention in no way involves an animal left in a shelter.
Some people really just suck!!!!!   Bottom line.
How many old dogs find their way into the dog pound after living many years with a family with the lame excuse of the economy, had to move, etc., etc.,
There IS NO circumstance that would EVER cause me to part with my animals.
I have a 30 plus year old mare, the old grey mare just ain't what she used to be, that's for sure. The winters in New York  are tough , she takes more care now than in her best hay-day. Everyone asks "WHY keep her, she's a useless hay burner.
What are her options if I chose to get rid of her to save a few bucks? The meat man ,,and that's about it. she gave many years of pleasure to the family. WE owe her.
When her day comes, she will go to Maple Rest, where ALL my beloved pets have a place.
