Shelley Strohl

by Shelley Strohl on 07 October 2005 - 20:10

If you don't like the way the organization is going, change it. Out of the sport for about 5 years, and out of the GSDCA-WDA for longer, I have finally "returned to the fold." Personally, I see no serious alternative to the WDA for a serious competitor, considering theat USA judges BH and SchH 1 scores are no longer accepted for the Korung, and USA can no longer send a team to the WUSV. Care to guess how many USA judges showed up for the SV Judge's Program this year? Answer: ONE. As that was Part 1 of a 2 yr. program, there is no possibility to "opt in" for the 2nd session next year. Don't get me wrong... I am still a member, have been for nearly 20 yrs., and I will continue to support USA, but I'm not crazy about a lot of what has happened during my hiatus, and I am disappointed in the direction that club seems to be heading. I plan to apply to the '07 SV Judge program. I have to re-new/re-join GSDCA, which doesn't bother me a bit. In fact, it gives me a chance to affect the future of that organization. I may even run for a WDA office in the not-too-distant future. (Probably be the biggest number of ballots returned in the history of the organization LOL: all AGAINST me ;)LOL But how else can one better direct the future of the sport and the breed in this country? I am not alone in this philosophy, thank goodness. Look for better days ahead for the WDA. I expect there'll be a big shakeup over this ballot thing, but in the end everything will probably work out fine. Shelley
