I was trying to get someone else on the ballot that had experience. They had contacted me regarding regional director information. But I'm not a member of GSDCA so I couldn't assist. Only a member of WDA. I don't care for the slate, but I believe the office is only held for 2 years at a term, so if I have to join GSDCA in order to get the people experienced with schutzhund that work dogs, judge dogs, etc then so be it for the next time.

Lizi Bordon, take your meds or go back in hiding until you can say something intelligent :) My opinion is this...well, i have several. The GSDCA has done a great job supporting the WDA, it should because the WDA has dogs competing who have the heart of the breed in their best interest. People are titling their dogs, breed surveying their dogs, competing against other countries etc.... With this going on, i would think board members would have to have some sort of experience in tracking, obedience and protection work. Also experience in the benefits of a breed survey. I for one would not want to be on a board of something if i never participated in the area for which the board represented. I personally do not like the way there are no set rules so, therefore, leaves too much room for board members to get away with things they shouldnt be, like making up rules as they go in order to sabotage good candidates experience in the breed as a whole... not good. I think Board members of the WDA and GSDCA should be members of both. I think the Parent Club needs to understand the WDA and i think the WDA must also be open to what the GSDCA is doing. I think the WDA board members should be re embursed travel for board meetings like the GSDCA does... however, do we have the funds? Maybe we would if more people supported the WDA.. but we also have to give people a reason to join the WDA in order to get the membership up... perhaps having board members who are active in the sport of schutzhund! How many Regional Directors attend the shows/trials in their area? Anyone have any idea? Are they active in the sport? If not, why are they still on the slate if they are not supporting our events? Are they still on the slate because no one is stepping up? Kyle you are very right, we should "put up or shut up" only thing is, since there is that rule about being a PC member, a few good folks are not able to be on the slate, they didnt realize it til too late.

I'm currently a member of both the WDA and USA. I am thoroughly disgusted with the manner in which the WDA operates

I know our RD shows up when she can to trials and she does compete herself. I don't have a problem with GSDCA supporting WDA, I have a problem with GSDCA members who haven't got a clue or don't bother to work their dogs in schutzhund running for president/vp, etc of WDA. WDA needs people who are active and knowledgeable about the sport. Not someone who doesn't breed anymore and has american akc show lines with AKC titles on them, not schutzhund titles, so why is he even able to be considered for pres for WDA????!!!! I do agree WDA needs to put more information on the website as to how the process works. RD should hold at least a yearly meeting with their regional clubs to discuss issues regarding the region, etc. jmo

I believe that a RD should be present at any / all events in the Region. They should be there to represent the organization and make sure that the event is conducted as the organization rules and regulations state it should be. The Regional Director MUST be computer literate (and have a computer) to be effective in the management of the Regional Affairs.
