What does everyone think about the slate? Dawnmarie

Not good! Louise

Dish the dirt! I'm a new member to WDA and a member of USA for several years. I know the scoop with USA and rumors of not following the SV. Especially if they dummy down the C, via the long grip call off. What direction is WDA headed? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks, Kyle

Dirt? The trouble is that many of the candidates have no experience with German bloodlines or with the sport of schutzhund. The closest they've come to it is by patting my dogs. The other problem is that to be a WDA candidate one must also be a member of the GSDCA. This requirement may explain why so many candidates for office are unqualified, IMO. The WDA bylaws need to be changed in order to get around this bottleneck. Louise

Thanks Louise, This is a problem. How can you be in charge of an organization in which you have not actively participated? This is a problem! I can see WDA going the non performance GSD route. DO you know of anyone you would like to nominate or is too late? Kyle

<<>> Are we talking about the same WDA organization that as recently as a few months ago allowed a handler to enter 13 dogs at a one SchH trial and also a handler to title SchH1 on Sat and SchH2 on the same dog on Sunday at the same trial with the same SV Judge .....AH!....Yea! Duh I guess WDA needs to change its by-laws

I think Dawnmarie is looking to start trouble for others but not brave enough to give her opinions. What does Dawnmarie think of the WDA slate?

by JudyK on 03 October 2005 - 01:10

The fact that almost all the candidates are unopposed speaks volumes.......

Elizabeth there is nothing wrong with stirring the pot if it provokes debate. Dawnmarie it would be nice to see your thoughts since you brought it up. I personally don't have a probelm with a dog getting two titles in one weekend from the same judge. Unless the tracking was done with no one observing and the performances were not title worthy. Its not like the WDA has several trials every weekend in the same region. Back on topic. Why are these positions unopposed? If we are aware of the bylaws and having to belong to the GSDCA why are we not belonging to both. How are you going to change the by laws in the GSDCA-WDA if you are not a member of both orgs? The problem is you can not change a thing if you are not part of the process. If we in the working dog camp want to save, keep and or maintain what we believe should be preserved in the evaluation of the GSD, we must make ourselves part of the process. We have to put up or shut up! Kyle

I think part of the problem is that to my knowledge the membership is not notified of the nomination process. At least I was not aware of it. If you don't know what the deadlines are and what the process is (petitions with required signatures) how can anyone run for office which means that the WDA organization can stack the deck with the roster that suits their agenda. Not saying they are doing that but it makes one wonder when all but two offices are unopposed. So, it might be a good thing as Kyle says, to be more involved and stand up for the breed we all love by making the organizations truly represent the majority.
