Hello
Im owner  of a GSD female and want to train her to do the BH.
However there are no trainers in my area.
I know I could send her to a training center for a few months, but is very expensive!
I wonder if it is possible with some advice to be me to train her own?
I think the dog has so much potential. She have done some training in owner defense, but not at a level of sports!
I realy like to do the next step, but unfortunately i cant spend more money in trainers!

Here is a video with some work of Diana http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnxBAtG-tno

Here the pedigree of Diana http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=633669

Thanks for help
Cheers Migasbk

YES you can train for a BH yourself!
You can have friends stand in for the
group heeling, get a starters pistol to have
someone fire gunshots for you etc.
You will have to get creative to practice
the long down, be great if you can find
someone else to do some obedience
with their dogs while you practice the
long down. Have a friend spot you for
the out of motion exercises etc.

Good luck to you! Where there is a
will there is a way!!

Just had a chance to watch your video.

You know, your little female looks like
she is having an awful lot of fun out there
biting the crap out of the helper

Hard to tell who is having the most fun?
I did like the 'almost' leg bite too towards
the end

She could really excel with some quality
work put into her bitework sessions, perhaps
adding some technique etc, teaching her to guard
properly etc. She is a nice happy dog, you
have done a nice job raising her and encouraging
her to be the best she can.

Best of luck to both of you in whatever path you take,
it's just nice  to see a dog and handler
having such a good time

I thought the gunfire was eliminated from the BH?

You are right Slamdunc, no gunfire was one of the changes for 2012.
