Hi all, Would anyone please tell me if I take a dam with AKC registration to Germany for getting her mated to a sire of german registration, and bring her back after mating and the pups are born in USA where would the pups be registered in USA or Germany or i get my pick. And also what will be the method for registration incase if frozen sperm of a German registered sire is used for artificial insemination by an AKC registered dam, and again what registration would the pups have? Thanks.

The SV of Germany will not register puppies born in the USA, with the SV. They will only register puppies born in Germany. You should get a deckschein (breeding certificate) from the stud's owner at the time of breeding. The stud's owner SHOULD send in his portion of that breeding certificate to the SV headquarters in Augsburg. When the puppies are born, send the breeding certificate, filled out, to the SV in Germany. They will validate the certificate, send it back to you and you in turn will send that validation to the AKC. The AKC will then register the litter. You basically have no CHOICE of who you want to register the litter with. If you wanted to show or title the dog(one of the offspring in Germany, the AKC pedigree will(MUST) be used, in Germany. If you sell one of these AKC regisitered puppies back to Germany, the SV will take the AKC paperwork and make a set of SV papers for the German owner that has purchased the originally AKC registered puppy. Since the SV will not issue tattoo numbers for your litter, it is recommended that you make up a unique 2 letter, 4 digit(number) tattoo for your litter and have it applied to the dog's right ear by your vet at about 7.5 weeks old. Hope this helps.

I must add(you probably know this). The female must meet the SV breeding requirements when you take her over for breeding. This includes: The dog having a BH, SchH1(minimum),Kor Rating(1 or 2), AD(20km endurance run), V-rating, ect. Without those minimum breeding requirements, you will not find anyone that will stud your female
