In a show, after the stand for exam, how important is the presentation lap? If a dog bunny hops the presentation lap, should it place in front of dogs that ACE it?

The dog with better conformation should be in front of a dog that is not as good, provided the dog has good character.

It is true that the dog with the best conformation should be the winner but, the presentation must be good so that the judge can fairly evaluate the dog.

first impressions get the dog placed higher in the class when the judge places the class the first time. if the conformation is good, the handler can settle the dog in, the shepherd can work its way up to its position in class. judges comment on the shepherd needing more training for the reason its not placed higher. other problems can be the reason for a placeing. when the class is moving, the judge may move the shepherd in front of others with out the problem, proveing with some effort by the handler a dog can place over those with better conformation or color, by useing what it has better.
