I thank Richard for his comments and for all the other positive comments. Richard and his Bowling Green "crew" were forthright in their concern for the Breed and had and still have "zuchten Verantwortung"--BREED RESPONSIBILITY  which seems to be scarce in todays dog world!!!The negative comments are expected by those who do not know the facts and just repeaat what they heard as factual.

To set the record straight about the show in Georgia--I was asked to bring Nino by a Club officer and I said I would not enter him but they wanted him there anyway!!!

Nino was NOT shown at the 2013 Bundeszuchtschau because the Sieger title was not awarded and the dogs were placed in alphabetical order so nothing to gain. We did show him in the protection phase as well as his offspring group and he scored maximum 5-5  and if you have the Zeitung Dez Issue you can read the very positive report of his progeny. By the way this no Sieger thing has been done 2 times in the past and will continue now for hte next 2 years.

Nino was Sieger and had the high protection award at the USCA Sieger Show in St. Louis recently and the Judge said "Nino is an icon of the Breed". Request for stud service is being asked for by pure working breeders as his protection work is outstanding. His son was also rated VA at this show.

He has outstanding temperament and character and is a pleasure to live with and sleeps by my wife's bed.

Having had a German Junghund Siegerin, a German Select (VA) female, many V1 males and having been an AKC judge since 1978 and a Full SV Judge since 1981 that judged many times at the invitation of German Clubs I must say that NINO VON TRONJE is the finest I have ever seen in ALL aspects.

We are shipping his semen all over the world but he is not happy being collected as he was bred over 300 times in Germany until his arrival here in Jan. 2014

So I was fortunate enough to be able to obtain him and many of you may or may not know this but I tried to buy him when he was not 2 years old and finally got him in June 2010 and at 2 years of age before he received his first VA rating with no offspring group under the very knowledgable Reinhardt Meyer. Then VA 5 with a small group then VA 2- Viz Sieger with a large group.

In closing it is easy to buy one that already has the titles but one must know a dog to realize it is a great one before the titles are given.

Come see him!!

Thanks,

Morton Goldfarb

Is it true that he came in second place in Georga behind this America Show Line?

That's a puppy, so I don't know how he would have come in behind it?

ETA: Just saw that pic is from 2013.  Looked up who the dog was.

Even if Nino did place behind him in a class (and Nino's only class options are Novice and Open), so what?  It's one show.  Nino speaks for himself, and one loss means nothing.

Dr. Goldfarb,

That you for your post. What I find especially interesting and hope you will elaborate further, is your young acquisition of him and the arrangements that were made to leave him in Germany so he could contribute to the breed before coming to the US.  It's a great story.

?? Is the story missing some paragraphs at the start?

Nice dog.

Silasmom:

If that dog in the picture with your post was actually put up over Nino, I think it completely laughable.

I agree with Richard.  Years ago, I took some of my top dogs to an AKC specialty show, just for fun.  It was close by.  VA-1 Utz v. Hirschel (USCA 2001) came in dead last.  So did V-Caleb Kirchenwald, USCA Junghund Sieger.  Can't say that the show was fun, but it certainly was funny!  I hope that Morton and Nino, together, will help to influence/educate the AKC Shepherd world!

And most of the best AKC CH's would not do well at an SV show either. Two different worlds, folks. There are some German dogs that have attained an AKC CH, fewer Am CH's with V ratings. I know of only one.

The above are the offical results of Slay's placements of the males at that show. It doesn't look like Nino was even shown at the same show that puppy went best puppy and would not have been eligible for the puppy class in 2013 anyway, Sitasmom. More false information in the GSD world! Imagine that Confused Smile
