Does anyone have experience with this breeder? Are their dogs bigger than average? Was going through their website/pictures, I'm really interested in inquiring about getting a male pet quality pup from them.

I don't know this kennel but if you're after a nice "Pet"...why don't you look at a Rescue...There are always German Shepherds that need a good home...

If all "Pet Quality" pup seekers start getting their dogs from the Rescues, where would the GOOD Breeders send their "Pet Quality" pups? To the Rescues?

I know nothing about this breeder, BTW.

There is absolutely no information about their dogs except for a video and that video merely shows pictures.
That is a red flag to me, unless the page is still being built.

I currently train a dog that came from there. He is a working dog. Good nerves and drive for any work. I've visited and worked the dogs there. Very stable temperament of all dogs. Very sure and outgoing disposition pups and adults. They are larger in size but seem to be within standards. Should make good pet but will require activity most likely

There is plenty of info on the site about the dogs. They are not pet quality, and are in fact DDR (Deutsche Demokratische Republik) aka East German German Shepherd Dogs. So they are all working dogs from working bloodlines. They are mainly for home protection or police. If you want pet quality, look more for show bloodline dogs as dogs from working bloodlines are a handful and tend to be very high energy.

And most people don't want to get a dog from a shelter as the dog's history is too unknown. With purebred dog breeders you can find out a dog's full history and know of it is likely to have health issues. Many shelter dogs sadly do have health issues that are hidden until they get ill from it. Like a women who adopted a shelter dog and had it a year, only to find it was dying from cancer. And then a few months later she adopted another dog... And soon found it too had cancer. Also shelter dogs are often full of bad behaviors thanks to previous owners. Many dogs have been returned to shelters after their new owners found the dog is too aggressive or not even fully house trained. Last year I remember reading stories of shelter dogs that had even attacked their new owners and then they had to put the dogs to sleep.

Sorry, but I totally disagree... while I personally own pb gsds from reputable kennels I always suggest pet/companion dog owners to look to rescue when seeking a gsd esp for the first time! Yes ,dogs directly out of the shelters are a crap shoot on what you get (esp if owner has no former experience with a GSD) but RESCUES have some wonderful dogs who have been in experienced foster homes and they can tell you everything you want to know about the dog. . . it's a whole lot safer and better than buying a puppy and raising it improperly and ending up with a 'monster' who has been raised without guidance or guidelines to mold it into a respectable well rounded socialized dog. Even if the puppy coming from good lines, without proper guidance they can turn into less than 'nice' dogs. . . . If someone wants to take the time to educate themselves on the breed and get a pup and seek guidance on raising it correctly, that's fine.

To Lunastars point WL tend to be high energy. Park for the course. Annoying at times. But I like JDs dogs.

My old girl is a rescue from WA GSD Rescue. She has an ear tattoo and I traced this back to her breeder and litter - she comes from working lines, just as I had suspected. She was in a foster home when I got her, and was already housebroken and had basic manners from either the original owner or the foster family. Just because a dog ends up in rescue does not mean they are not from quality breedings and will not make an excellent pet. My dog has been a good pet dog, but coming from working lines she has more drive (strong prey) than a lower drive "pet" type dog. I knew what to expect and have had working dogs before I got her so was prepared to deal with her level of activity/drive.

Back to the OP's question, sorry I do not have any experience with this particular breederbut there are a few things you should consider about selecting any breeder.  Be honest about what you want in a dog, the level of activity you are willing to engage in with the dog, and your household situation. Any reputable breeder should answer all your questions and be forthcoming about what their dogs are like. It should be the breeder's primary concern to match the buyer with the right puppy, and if the buyer is not suited for their type of dogs/pups, then they should say so and refuse to sell. Unfortunately there are breeders who will sell a pup/dog to an unsuitable home, and this is one of the reasons why there are so many purebreds in shelters.

Good luck with your search, and take your time to find the right dog for you.
