When I have had Monorchid pups; mostly has been when i have had young puppies on medication. a litter with parvo - all males that survived had only one testicle (2/5) a pup with broken leg at 5 weeks - after meds only one testicle (1/4) one male out of 5 in my E litter had one testicle My friend had a male who produced monorchid pups in almost every litter, bred to different bitches/lines/ages. i've not had that many, so my experience is limited. Never had a completely cryptorchid pup (no testicles) but only monorchid pups (one testicle)

Both the father and mother are carrier for gene. The gene appear only if both parents have the gene and the gene influence equal both sex. Kryptorchid(in one word) = one or two testicles are hide Monorchid = Only one testicle Anorchid = NO testicle Today they also know both environment and feed can matter for kryptochism, also high falls, lots of climbing as small puppy, medicine and fallin in ice water can influence. A female with gene "kryptochism" gives in her litters dead born females and high procent of kryptochism on the males

Most think that cryptorchidism, unilateral where one is not descend, or bilateral, where neither testicles are descended is sex linked to the dam. Some recommend that bitches with brothers who do not have both testicles descended into the scrotum should not be bred as they will produce more of the same. It would be extremely rare for a dog to not have any testicles at all, but sometimes both are retained and do not pass through the inguinal ring before it closes so they are not in the scrotum. Some can even be trapped in that ring when it closes. Once that ring closes, no testicle can pass through it and those that are descended stay in the scrotum, those that are not will never be descended.
