Thinking of using this male, but have heard some negatives from breeders with his progeny ( weak ears, soft pasterns , oversize , and too many long hairs ) And your experience ?

I'll bet Nino didn't get to be MULTIPLE VA in Germany by producing defects in his offspring. Those dogs are weeded out long before they reach VA the first time. I would be more concerned with how capable the female is to produce quality offspring when bred to one of the best in the world.

Yes, I know he must have good progeny, but referring to some peoples that had bred to him from Germany. Have you bred to him or know someone?

You will always get a variety of opinions depending on who you ask about every dog out there. His statistics are well established over the past few years and are easily accessible on this website and Winsis. You can evaluate the statistics, look at what he has to offer your female and decide for yourself if he is a suitable male.
Have I bred to him, yes. Does that provide any information that would be of value to you? I doubt it. My female is probably different than yours.

I totally agree, and until I breed I won't know what my female will produce, infinite possibilities, but it's a big expense, after testing, traveling, etc and then to get puppies that ears don't go up its tough.
i had heard the same thing in Vegas lines, then like you said , didn't pay much attention and then 3 puppies from a litter with bad ears. Just asking if anyone had bred to him and the puppies.

Don't let the number of longcoats produced influence your decision. No dog produces more or less longcoats than the other. It's always a matter of chance, a random pairing of genes.

I am planning on breeding my female to him and am very excited. The bloodlines of my female appear to match nicely with Nino and of course I am hopeful that I will have a male to keep out of the litter. I am not concerned about temperament (as Nino is about as good as you can get in that department and my female is very nice) and on health the litter will have a nice low HDZW. My female is DM N/N. My female has 2 copies of the normal coat gene (so we will have no LC but I hope he will improve on coat for this litter). I have seen heavy ear leather on Nino pups but I am crossing my fingers that I will be lucky. On pasterns, this too is becoming an increasing problem in the breed and I assume it has something to do with what would be too large dogs if the pasterns were firm, that would not pass a breed survey. So more "large", weak pasterned dogs are coming into the gene pool. But my female has beautiful firm pasterns (a beautiful sight to see these days). The soft ears are really becoming an increasing problem and much has to do with the ear inserts of young dogs that we just don't know about. The thing with size will be our biggest hurdle especially with a line breeding on Ursus 5-5. I really like that he has Ursus via Yasko. Nino, is just an incredible dog overall and I just am hoping that we will have a super litter. It appears to me that he is a good producer of both males and females. In checking progeny, I would not mind winding up with anything like this:
(Alpha is 5-5 on Ursus)

and this would be progeny result with some similar bloodlines with my own female:

And I am very excited about this but there are so many factors involved but I feel confident that he is the stud for my female. :)
Good luck to you in your research.

Ober, I don't think the ear problem with Nino is anything like Vegas. In fact the ear problem has become known as "Vegas Ears". But Vegas was a very good dog. He is one you would like in your pedigree regarding temperament. But try to keep him further back there in the pedigree for ears. I fortunately have never been faced with ear issues. I hope it is not the way forward in the future. The last (and first) litter I had was in 2006, out of my own dogs. So, I hope Ms. Hobby breeder is born under a lucky star and we have absolutely no issues with this upcoming dream.
