Thank you, Jenni. Yes, the rabies vaccine was just two months ago. Here in Florida, by law they are supposed to get at 4 months, but I wanted to go by Dr. Dodds protocol and hold off as long as I could, to almost 7 months of age. Still, I guess maybe it wasn't long enough. That said, I'm guessing me being away was more of the cause since the timing fits. I feel so discouraged. I'm so intentional about trying to do the best for my dogs, but still s**t happens, I guess. It is what it is and we will deal with it.

My Male came down with Demodex shortly after a female came into heat and it caused him to stress out with anxiety. I went to Tractor Supply and bought Ivermectin for $8 treated him once a month for 3 months and it was gone. I used the apple flavored stuff for horses you just have to be careful and measure the correct dosage.

Thank you for the info, Bergeraj. I'm going to talk to my vet about Ivermectin because a few people have mentioned it. He isn't about the money so I'm sure if I ask him the dosage he will tell me.

The dosage is on the tube and its graded out by weight. It should be rated at a full tube for a 1250lb horse with a syringe style tube. The 1 I had used written incriments of 250lbs with little notches between them which were 50lbs so i gave him 1 and 1/2 notches. I know that my explaination is not the easiest to follow and sorry for that, should be able to understand if you got the product and seen what im refering too. I did my research about what was going on with my dog before I went to my Vet and he just allowed me to take action once he confirmed it was Demodex.

Liquid sheep drench may be easier.

I'm not familiar with that, Jenni. Any info you have would be appreciated :)

I know there is Ivomec injectable for horses and in the past I've known people who used that for heartworm preventative because it is a lot cheaper than Heartgard.

I don't use it...one of my puppy buyers does. I've seen it in farm stores though. Botanica37 is the one who uses it. PM her and I'll bet she'll tell you what she does. She researches EVERYTHING thoroughly.

Star that is what I use, the injectable for horses this is what I have been talking about :) My vet cleared me to use the product and I got the idea from the breeder where I get my dogs.

I used the Ivermec injectable for some baby foxes my nuece found a few years back. I believe the dose is 1cc, regardless of weight, injected under the skin on the neck.(ask your vet, don 't hold me to that, although I do think that is it).
The foxes mange cleared up, but not before me and my niece caught it too. Oh, these poor cold babies I thought as I tucked them under my shirtbto warm them up.BIG MISTAKE THERE....
My niece went to the hospitol for her treatment, I went to my old retired vet. Mine went away quickest with a lime/sulfer paste my vet mixed up for me, lol, and the foxes used the ivermectin injectable and within a few weeks theirs was gone.
I had to keep telling my dogs to stay away from me, so they didn't catch the mange....for real. It was a nightmare.( for us people)
