Greatest-- That link is the Dutch version of this database for malinios. It is pretty accurate from what I understand. Often times, Dutch breeders keep acurate pedigrees of their dogs. If not "official", they are correct. Some have "double books" the pedigree that is delivered, and the actual pedigree. So if you have paperwork, it might be correct, you would have to talk with your breeder. The Dutch are generally more open about their breeding practices than other european countries. If you ask, and let them know you don't really care, you should get an honest answer. If they are marketing them as "purebred", who knows. I did not see the link to your kennel, just the database. If you shoot me a copy of the papers, or a couple names in the pedigree, I might be able to help. Like I said, cross breeding can produce excellent dogs. If she has good drive, that's a pretty good start. You like your puppy and that;s what really matters. Papers are what they are.....

I found the male. He is a cross from KNPV stuff which is what most of your DS are. If you go to the pedigree link, go to "Zoeken" and type in Rudie, you will see several of them pop up. Find the one that has your owners name and you will go to his pedigree with pictures. Couldn't find the bitch. Something people may find interesting if they want to take a look.... In the fourth generation of Rudies pedigree there is a dog on top named "Rudie" and a dog on the bottom named Kastor van de Rita's Home. They kind of look like GSD's to me.

I spend a fair amount of time in Holland as most all of my dogs for police work come from Holland and the KNPV program. Their are a couple of kennels that try to stick to strict Dutchie to Dutchie breeding's and if you follow their bloodlines, you will find a cross back far enough it is not close enough usually to influence what the current living dogs are like. And those dogs are different, one of the above post hits the nail on the head with many of the differences. If you go back far enough in history they were all one in the same and the separation came when they did start a registry and it was based at first on color and that was the first split between the Malinois as we know it and the Dutchie, nothing more then the color and then like anything that is bred to a standard other then for work, the work suffers and so did the "pure bred Dutchie". Finding a pure bred Dutchie that can work well is tough, it is harder then finding a very good GSD. But, the mixes are a different thing and that is where your girl falls in. The one Rudie son I have here now is Dutchie on both sides and he is a Malinois by color, so he is a Malinois. Your girl is bred very well, you should be very happy with her? If you type in Rudie where the above post says on the data base and the when Rudie is up, click on combinations and your pups mom will be listed a few females down. She has a huge Malinois influence in her bloodlines. I have a couple of Rudie sons in PD's over here and they are all heavy hitters, cool dogs! Sorry, for taking the thread in a different direction. Thank you Doug, for taking the time to tell me about Dutchies. What you are telling me is what I have always heard about them. I did not know that there was a Dutchie that was pure bred. Where are you located at? And yes, I like this girl very much. I think she will do good in ring sport. Maggie

While normally I would make comment (to myself) that this post has been taken off topic, I think it has evolved to an excellent explanation of some of the ringsports and some of the various dogs that do well in this function. Excellent posts everyone. Bob-O

I have been looking at A LOT of video of the many ringsports, and I am SOOO excited to get my boy into the sport. My boy MOST LIKELY WILL NOT, do FR, he is just to big to get over the large wall.. But who knows.. My boy is more defensive with the "helper", "decoy" whatever you wanna call it... Not seeing a sleeve, but the Man was really nice to go after! ;-) I am working on getting his prey drive (while in working mode) up, to help balance it, but I deffinetly see him in the "ring" rather the Field of SchH... Now, if I could only find a club around me.... (Yes, that was a BIG hint BTW) KC (my boy) has had 3 "bites" on the "helper"... bruise, and scrape.. he went UNDER the "thing" that was in his way,(i.e. the sleeve) to the back of the leg..Nice Big ole' bruise.. (good boy), and to the chest (nothing there) and to the arm..(scratch).. So I need to find a bite suit (not for me...lol) and see what happens. I have a feeling he would do well, and I am woriking on the OB at home myself.. Were doin pretty good. (I think anyways..) I LOVE the ring sports, they are so exciting! I like the object guard.. You almost hold your breath while it takes place!! He deffinatly has the forward aggression, with NO FEAR.. (I mean none..ROCK SOLID nerve, I was very impressed..) But like I said, I know that is genetic, so I am upping his prey drive at home to balance the drives for the ring. Wish me luck! So far so good!

Maggie, I am going to assume based on the info you gave that this is the litter your girl came from? http://www.bloedlijnen.nl/pdfstamboom.php?ID=10969 As you can see the Malinois influence is dropping farther and farther back. If the time comes to breed her and you want to start to weed out the Malinois influence more their are a couple of very nice (for what it is worth)papered Dutchie's over here. The resulting litter should start to show more and more Dutchie traits. I like her combination a lot, genetically she comes from some very nice dogs. I am located in PA. Mercedes, Where are you located? I am going to assume you have a GSD? And I will also assume you are talking about getting into French Ring? Not wanting to sound down about what you want to do, but in earlier posts it was commented on about the agility in FR, it is very difficult for large dogs, it can be done, but it takes it's toll on the dog. And it was also commented on (in earlier posts) about the primary drive that makes a good FR dog, and it is prey drive. With the speed they demand the out to be done, and the esquiving it makes it very hard for a defensive dog to do well. Some of the exercises are bite out, bite out, etc at a very quick pace and then the combination of being able to esquive the dog can take it's toll on a defensive dog, it becomes very defeating for a dog that takes things more personal (i.e. a more defensive dog), and then if and or when they do get a hold of the decoy you can kiss your out good by! Maybe if you are located near a Mondio Ring club that would be a better alternative? The esquiving is not a part of the sport and their is a bit more room for slower outs, but the dog MUST be environmentally sound! That is what is unique to Mondio and what makes it a cool sport. If you don't mind me asking why don't you want to train for SchH? Thanks Doug Wendling

Doug, you are right, that is the breeding she comes from. I hope we can remain in contact, I would like to find a good male for her when the time is right! I live in Atlanta, Ga. She is 4 months old right now, so it will be awhile. My invitation still stands, if you would like to see a picture of her, send me your email address and I will send you one. Maggie
