I have recently purchased an adult bitch, with what looks like a good pedigree, beyond her grandparents. I am new to Schutzhund and was able to buy her for only $400.00. I thought she might be a good candidate to produce a future Schutzhund prospect, if bred to a good, Schutzhund titled dog. Please give me your opinion of Jetta and the dogs in her pedigree.

And here's my new puppy, Athena:

Thanks! Athena was only 4 weeks old in that pic. She's going thru the ganglies, now, so I decided to post the puppy pic, instead!!

Athena is GORGEOUS, very nice, like that head on her too! I didn't get a chance to look at your older female, Jetta, but Athena is very nice looking, about how old is she now? CONGRATULATIONS and I wish you wonderful luck with both of them!

The adult female should not be bred. Her pedigree sub-standard as is her confirmation. Im sure she is a great companion though! If she has the drive, go forward with Schutzhund if that is what you desire. It is always great to have a "practice dog" to learn with. We all had one!

I agree with funk man, just going on her pedigree she should not be bred. You paid a fair price and if her hips and temperment are good, then she will be a great pet!

Athena looks to have a great pedigree. Good luck with her.
As for the other,,,,you get what you pay for. Breeding this dog would not constitute "betterment of the breed". Please keep her as a pet and not a brood bitch...which her pedigree alone says she isn't.

I agree, I wouldn't consider her a breeding female based on her pedigree (big mix of untitled show, working and american "pet" lines) - and herself - you paid a pet price for her, nothing wrong with enjoying her as a pet, working her if she is able, learning from her and looking at your puppy for breeding in the future, if she is proven breedworthy.

Jetta looks like a very nice pet.
