Most Embarassing moments...... - Page 1

I thought we could have some fun with this one in hopes that some of the experienced GSD people could share some of their "novice" experiences with the beginners today. I'm sure everyone has had a most embarassing moment or a situation they can reflect upon with some humor today that they didn't find so funny years ago when it first happend. Maybe you had something funny happen while training, competing, or just in an every day situation with your dog. As a newbie myself training I've found is not as easy as it looks on video or when someone experienced it doing it. But you learn from your mistakes and keep going. I've found personally that when belonging to a good club, the experiences that may be quite embarassing at times you can laugh about with folks that boost your self confidence when sharing their personal stories from back in the days when they too were new and learning. It builds confidence and stronger desire to keep pluggin away. I thought this might be a good post as a change from the more serious ones that can turn heated. Have fun with it!

I tripped in the show ring once and used my hands to break my fall. My left hand just so happened to land in a pile of poop. Yes, that was grand.

My Mr Wonderful-never makes a mistake-GSD, greeted my favorite uncle by lifting his leg and peeing on him!!!!!!!

It was on my second day and second leg to a AKC Companion Dog (CD) title. The first day, first leg, we pulled a second place. Then my car broke down. We had to walk a good distance to the show that second day and the whole way Anke did as she pleased on the walk. We got there in just the nick of time to go in the ring, so no warm up. I guess she thought she was still on a walk because nobody would have believed it was the same dog by her heeling. Then came the recall... she came running and planted her front feet in my chest, almost knocked me over, then proceeded to leave the ring to go visit all those nice people standing there laughing at us....

While working with my old dog--now deseased-on her CD, she refused to let the male judge touch her and in fact wouldn't even stack--I did a curtsey ast the end of the exercises and everyone clapped for me but I wanted the floor to open up................Minta

Humm, I think it's a toss up for me. It was either with my 8yo male WGSD rescue in the novice ring when on the stand for exam he took a liking to the judge and wrapped himself around the judge's leg and refused to let go! The judge tried to pull away and the dog just hung on tighter and howled! Or with my B&T 3yo Girl that decided she was tired of showing (it was day 3 of a 4 day show) and spotted a friend's crate outside the ring. She stood politely for the stand for exam then made a break for the exit. A very large lady in a knit dress straddled the exit in an attempt to stop her so she shot between her legs, made a quick stop to see a male gsd she'd met that morning then raced to the crate pulled the door open, dove in and slammed the crate door behind her.

I like number 2, bsceltic. That will be hard to top LOL.

when I was 10 years old, i was in my first show (CD) with my first dog ever that i had trained. lots to friend were there to cheer us on..plus family members who had driven from IL to AZ. Man he looked great in the healing, with focus even...perfect sits everytime...perfect fiqure 8...so we set up for the recall...this is an easy one for him so no worries. I tell him to sit..then walk across the ring..give my best "Butch Come" he takes one look at me and runs....away...he had about 20 people trying to catch him and he was having a great game of keep away...when he was done he came and did the most perfect front, and finish. Needless to say I cried.. It is funny now, but not then.

i was training with a exceptionally good trainer and helper and it was my third time working with him he calls me out in ront of the group for me to demonstrate some proper or improper leash handling well my bitch that i was working with just came out of season. so we proceded to walk through the other handlers and there dog and my bitch went totaly balisticaly dog agressive well at the time i laid a very powerful leash correction but failing to make sure of my footing in a puddle of mud my female went up in the air i landed on my kettle in the mud and she followed right on top of me. there was about 15 peopole in the class here i was supposed to be a star pupil instead i was a clown.
