Don Corleone

by Don Corleone on 24 April 2007 - 20:04

I'm so glad my neighbor, Ted Kysinski, moved away! Neighbors can be a pain in the ace. We only have one and the three year old asked my wife, "Why do you have bad dogs?" I'm 100% sure that came directly from the parents. People are ignorant. The two older boys play football, baseball, and soccer right next to my fence. My very prey driven dogs go nuts next to the fence trying to get the balls that are flying through the air. The parents think that the dogs are trying to get through the fence to eat their young. I don't tell them any different. Besides, every now and again, the dogs get a few stray balls. Us dog owners have to respect our non-dog loving neighbors. It sure would be a pain in the ace to live next to a chainsaw artist! Heck, I love my cat loving neighbors. So do the dogs!!!!!!YUMMMMMMM!!!!

Gawd!~ Thats another issue. I have a neighbor who breeds cats, not purebred cats, alley cats and continues to feed the whole world, so more keep coming. At least these cats go around to the other fence making my puppies bark, leaving the adults to just harass my neighbor lady! LOL I'll move to the counrty someday!

4pack, I thought I was the only one who had a ferile cat breeder. lol He unfortunately is the nutt case right smack next door to me. I'm an animal lover really I am and I don't have a problem with cats. I even met a few I liked and even owned a few in my life but these cats are just NASTY, mangy, sickly looking things that do nothing but make the neighborhood crazy. 3 years ago this guy had 30 cats removed from his house by the health dept. He was back up to about 13 til this fall when he went to jail and the neighbors decided to start trapping them. Now we're down to about 3 that I can tell. They are at least smart enough not to come in my backyard anymore cause they know Agar isn't gonna have none of that going on in his space. lol Other animals we can almost excuse cause they don't know better but it's people's kids that really get my goat. A privacy fence to me means you put it there to keep people out of your yard for good reason. Why a kid that's old enough to know better would scale a neighbors fence to test their big dog is beyond me. Then if they got bit I'd have the whole family down here with their lawyer in tow. The dog is used to kids and I'd like to think he'd never bite one because he's smart enough to know they're not a threat BUT when one comes over the fence he's never seen before I can't say for sure he wouldn't bite and I take every precaution to assure an accident won't happen but to me you're asking for it when you push an animals buttons invading his space.

My dogs have their own 10x20 kennels.Neighbors have 4 foster kids .Noticed my 7 month old very agreesive towards them.Well came home early one day and caught 1 of the kids kicking the fencing with the real parents right there .So very politely asked them to have the kids stop.Next day come home kids right on my property again just so Niko would go crazy. So next step went to talk to foster parents.Ok we'll take care of that won't happen again. But that didn't work either.I guess it's like the comedian Ron White says CAN'T FIX STUPID. so now have to be very careful when he's out playing around he usaully listens well but really don't trust him. With other kids no probs. So now they have this set on their laps kids or their dog comes on my property cops will be called

The law here in Montana states if you post your property every so many yards (forgot exact amount), then tresspassers have "no" chance in a court of law as they were told to stay they h_ll out and had NO business there without permission. We have 10 acres (posted) and live on the east end of our property. State gravel pit to the east, lumber mill property, State, and USFS to the back side and neighbors on the west side. My dogs have a huge fenced yard and I am usually home with them all the time, if I leave and can't take them they go inside the house and are in the house alot too. Even with this and a Beware of Dog sign on my yard gate I had the neighbor kids come in thru the yard to tell me my horses were out. I had the dogs in at the time. My female can be defensive, the others I don't think would bite but it was a creepy feeling thinking what might have happened had they come from the back yard to the front with the kids in the yard. They are OK with my granddaughter but they do not know these kids. Neighbors...ick

I can't believe this just happened to us. I have been keeping animals, livestock, horses and dogs for longer than I care to remember. It is an absolute religion with me to close every and all gates when you pass through them. A couple of days ago, I found the backyard gate open. I closed it, but wondered how it got that way. Fortunately the dogs were in the house. Today, both my husband and I were away. I was training the dogs on a field not far away and he was in town doing whatever. When I came back I put the girl in the backyard (by the garage door) for feeding and the boy in the house for the same. I went out about 45 minutes later to bring our girl in the house and she was nowhere to be found. The gate was open! Again! I remember without a shadow of doubt that I closed it. I used to keep a padlock on all gates, but they were a nuisance and I let the habit slip. I got in the van and hubby got in his truck and we scoured the neighbourhood and found her at about the same moment on a nearby street. I called her and she came charging to me. (We have been working on this thank god!) By the way, I found a strange stick by the gate with a couple of chew marks on it. I did not give it to her. Padlocks from now on, doesn't matter how inconvenient it is!!!

Possible your dog learned how to open the gate?

Sorry 4pack, on my neighbor pits barking CONSTANTLY, I offered free training sessions. I offered the advice of bark collars. I offered to sit and try to make friends through the fence. I even housesat these dogs for 2 weeks at no cost. (and tried correcting them from their side...which worked, only as long as I was on their side and reverted when the owners came home). They had already "hired a trainer" and already had pet store bark collars that did absolutely nothing but tick them off. I do not want to start any neighbor wars, I just keep to myself about dogs cause there's lots of them out here. And the last thing I need is a neighbor war, I want my dogs safe. So yes, it IS the human fault...but one can only take so much barking and then, of COURSE I'm going to feel like correcting these dogs. As I said, you can come live here next to them for awhile and then tell me you don't want to spray somebody.
