If someone has a dog that is not AKC registered but was imported here with FCI paperwork and then bred here in the states, and then you go get AKC paperwork on the parent, Can the puppies then get AKC registration as well?
providing both parents having AKC numbers?

I am aware that any imported dog must get a DNA swab test before a litter can be registered to them, but what is the litter is already on the ground?

Can those puppies not get AKC because it was done after they were born or can they?

Get the dams paperwork done including the swab.  Then you can reg the pups.  Let buyers know that it will take extra time. If the pups are just born you may be able to get it all done before they leave. so don't waste any time.

it takes a while,...my puppy is 4 months old and I still don't have her AKC registration paper. Her dam was imported and was not AKC registered when she gave birth to my puppy's litter. It gives the buyers much more confidence when they pay 2 thousand dollars or more for a puppy and get the registration papers at time, as well as know the pedigree of the purchased puppy.
