this article is very interesting in that there's been a video out there that actually teaches about assisted suicide and that teachers are actually showing it in their classrooms........ i'm really not sure that this is appropriate for such young minds. what do you think?

How can people even start to have an intelligent conversation about things anymore.

They are really showing a video to teens on ways they can more easily kill themselves, in school? For real? This is really what you believe?

I am stunned that people believe that teens are so gullible. Just like sex education does not influence kids to have more sex, I don't believe that this type of video will influence the mentally stable. Unfortunately there are those teens who have issues with mental stability. If someone is going to commit suicide, believe me, there is nothing anyone can do to stop this. All we can do is educate and support. It takes a village to raise a child and everyone should be paying attention and be aware of indications of suidical ideation. This blind "not my business" and "not my problem" needs to stop. Get a grip, grow some testicles, and be unafraid to get involved!

Current level and trends

In 2007, 483 people died by suicide, a decrease from the 526 people who died in 2006.²⁷ The age-standardised²⁸ suicide death rate was 11.0 per 100,000 population in 2007, a decrease from 12.3 per 100,000 in 2006. Over the 1980s and 1990s there was an upward trend in the suicide death rate, which peaked at 15.1 per 100,000 in 1998. The rate has generally declined since then and in 2007 it was lower than the rate in 1986 (12.3 per 100,000).

My son almost got to watch a film on "self-pleasuring" in THE FIFTH GRADE !!!!!!! I was at the school so fast it would have made your head spin. I was horrified beyond belief I am not a prude and have no problem with sex ed. But I draw the line at actually teaching about sex! That is MY job as a parent. You must watch out for what is being taught at school.
