Can anyone tell me how can i make the eyes of my gsd darker, he's 12 months old now and he's eyes are very light, not yellow, it's more like light brown, can anyone help me?

I don't believe there is anything that can be done for this. The eye color is hereditary, I believe. Is your dog entered in the datbase or somewhere were a picture can be seen? I'd like to see his eyes.

Why would you want to do this? You know I suppose you could have both eyes surgically removed and replaced with glass eyes! Or you could have the dog fitted for brown contacts! But why? Seriously, eye color is genetic. You have what you have. Light eyes are generally faulted in conformation, but if all other things are good, so what? No dog is perfect. There is nothing "legal" or particularly healthy that can be done to darken a dogs' eyes.

Colored contact lenses?

Hirasclan, It is funny that you ask this question. Because, I know that if you are a novice, which I suspect you are, someone said to you "your dog's eyes look light to me" or "I like everything about your dog but his eyes could be alittle darker". Wait until your dog matures and see how the whole picture fits together. If it does not disturb the mask, forget about it. Sunny

They will probably still darken to an amber color. As long as the overall picture doesn't look like two stoplights on the face of your dog, it'll be OK, as Sunny said. I have a picture of a lovely bitch who was foxy red with black saddle that had light(er) eyes, and they turned amber. Let me know if you'd like to see a picture of her at 13 years old. Kerry, I am glad you responded because, although I had not noticed, or just was dumb, my handler a year ago said, he thought my dog was great except he wished he had a shade darker eye. So I put him against my poor pigmented female and stared into their eyes. She had the darker eye. I said to the handler, I guess you are right but no judge faulted my dog for his eye color. So moving ahead. . . looking at the dog's eye color today it is the same dark eye as my female. Now, I know I have had alot of miraculous things happening around my dog. First he was purchased from the most disreputable breeder in this country then he was going to be a pony and I should think of putting a saddle on him, then he had the light eye that turned out not to be one. Either I am blessed or it is just a matter of loving your dog and he will be what you want him to be. Sunny

Hi everyone, thanks for your replys, i hope that his eyes get darker as you said, he is 12 months old yet, and one of the judjes that have evalueted him tell me that his eyes are correct with the color of his coat. I have a bicht who have light eyes too when she was younger, now their color are excellent, my dog isn¿t yet in this database but he is an Orbit v Tronje sun with Alina dei Verdi Colli, at the moment is the only thing that i don¿t like in him, i¿m going to try put him in the data base for you to see, his name is Funk dei Verdi Colli. Thanks, Luis

There is a firm in Taiwan Zeiss-Ling-Wee that specializes in contact lenses for dogs and produces dark brown lenses. They have been tested and used in Germany for many years. However, SV judges are aware of this and regularly check (its not too hard to tell) to see if the dog is wearing contacts

Just when I thought I'd heard it all......contact lens for dogs. What ever will they think of next? Ear implants? LOL.........
