Ask a believer why he/she believes, and the response is something like this: "Cause I was born into the family, community, culture..." but the most dangerous of the kind is, "cause I realized how filthy, dirty, and a disgrace I was and no one would forgive me for it. I should die, but wait, there is God who in my own imagination does forgive me, and in my own imagination His opinion is all that matters, so everyone else can screw off. now i'm a worthy to breathe air again and cause terror to those who don't accept my God born of my own imagination."

My position is that I have no idea how we were created, because nothing has been proven. The bible is based on the word of men and has nothing other than a document to support it's claim. Science has given us a theory based on observation of how the universe most likely began, but it still leaves many questions unanswered.

You are struggling with this because you want to nail me down to a belief, so you can pick my stance a part to support your belief (which I do believe is God). It's not a round and round we go situation, because I believe there isn't an correct answer. If you believe there is a correct answer feel free to share it, but also be prepared to defend it with facts and evidence.

Beetree,

 You are absolutely correct, but please realize that not everyone wants to hear someone's version of the "truth".

 What amazes me is that Christians seem to be the only ones that consistently sharing their unsoliciated opinion. This is a world wide forum which Buddhists, Muslims, Hindu's, Jews and others don't seem to feel the need to push their religious beliefs on everyone else. The recruitment drive is always on full speed with Christians and they show little or no regard for other faiths or cultures.

You might have encountered many zealots, but NOT ALL Christians will ram it down your throat.

Personally, I think it is the insecure ones who feel the need to do that. Just as someone with a damaged psyche is compelled to study Psychiatry. Just an example, don't take it to heart.

 Devnull and Fellofher,

          Just because a person owns a male and female GSD dog and allows them to do what comes naturally by no means MAKES THEM A GSD BREEDER....

           The same is very true for those that call themselves Christians...It takes more than a profession and the ability to throw around Bible verses to be a Christian....

            A backyard bred GSD dog should not be considered the standard for the breed. Similarly, a person who has been poorly indoctrinated with regard to Bible truth should not be considered the standard for a Christan....

An Example RS.

And I think Deanna is a good one.

Truth right now...is tuning into CNN and witnessing the carnage that's occuring all over the world. It always mystifies me, how much mud-slingin' goes on amongst dog people on forums...perhaps the very people that would/could have so much in common, if internet annonymity wasn't their best friend.

Somehow I think peoples' concept of "freedom of speech" gets blurred, when mods don't step in to quell the nastiness. I don't know anyone on here (and from where I sit...I'm glad of that), but I just think there's so many more important things in this world, than hating one another.

{I see another popcorn moment here}

by beetree on 15 March 2011 - 21:03

kacey, discussion does not always lead to hating. It depends on the receptor. If you want to breed hate, you will. If you want community, then you will.
