What does everyone think about the above lines?  Mixing them?  What lines do oyu think are better and why?

Interesting post:

never ending debate:

Let me write you about the dog I like :

Must be clear in head, must have heart and must have the ability to do real work since GSD is NOT a sporty dog (MHO).. You can make the toughest dog to be sporty looking but you can't bring toughness out of a dog that just does not have it.
That is not possible. I firmly believe that every so called bloodline has its followers and know it alls.

The best bloodline is the one that fits you best, the one that appeals to you as the one that you can work with. Not the one everybody follows.. because that is not your choice. There are people who will spit on anything unless it is what they believe is the best. And some people who do that do not even know crap.. it is rather enterntaining.

If you are looking for a certain bloodline.. You have to go and look for yourself.
All one can hope for is that the great dog produces him/herself in the next generation.

There is not such a thing as the best since your best differs from my best..

I agree, GSDPACK!   Your post says it all.

Lover,

You just need to get out there and observe dogs from various bloodlines ( W. Ger,"DDR" [remember that Wall came down 20 years ago--150 or so dog-years, or about 30 generations ago], Czech, showline, Belgian, Dutch).  Which appeals more to you personally and, hopefully, determine why.   Everyone has their own preference and sometimes cannot even comprehend someone else's.     Check out the dogs you like, learn their sources and make your own decision.

I agree with GSDpack and Mystere,
There are many good dogs out there from all the lines you mention.  I have a SchH 3 female from old German working lines, a Yoschy granddaughter and a male from Czech and German lines.  Both excellent dogs.  You really need to do some research and see what you like and go from there.  It really depends on the dog, genetics and how comfortable you feel with the breeder.

Getting, finding a good dog is not that simple, it's not as much of what lines they are from, but how these bloodlines work together, my female is mix of czech, west german WL, and DDR lines and I love the combination but I knew already what the breeding will deliver and this in itself complemented what I wanted out of a dog. So to answear your question there is no such thing like one line being better than the other, but rather one dog being better than the other ;).

From your question about a specific dog on another thread, you apparently  want a dog for schutzhund?   If so, go to some of the clubs in your area.  You are in the middle of the country with LOTS of schutzhund clubs (USA/WDA/DVG) around, or within just a couple hours' drive.  Talk to some of the folks involved in schutzhund and be sure to ask about breeders, as well as specific dogs.

Know what you want.

The wall came down a long time ago and it isn't easy finding pure lines. As post WWII the ddr and czech lines were mixed quite a bit as well.

My newest pup is ddr/czech cross from Vanesko vom Salztalblick and Yessy Anrebri (ICH Frankie Anrebri daughter). With many Pohranicni Straze dogs in his lineage including Grim z PS. Is he the best puppy for all handlers. NO most certainly not. Is he an outstanding dog for the purposes he is being used for YES he is! However I chose my dog off of himself not by his lineage. Extremely bright, well balanced natrual drives, and mentally/physically sound. Even with top of the line high end proven dogs you can have cull puppies who do not follow suit or the parents do not transmit there qualities well.

I personally would not trust a dogs worth based off of lines. I want an accurate assessment of the individual dog. If i were you I would do my research on the lines and dig inside myself to choose a bases of characteristics you are looking for and find someone who can accurately assess a pup or new dog and help you match a dog or pup tailored to your needs.
