Boy, this has been a rough year for my dad and I.
(I moved in with my dad a year ago to make it easier on myself and our dogs while I go to school)
My dad has always been a pretty healthy person, he used to do amatuer wrestling as a hobby and as a part time job he taught weight lifting. He did private coaching/training to football and wrestling athletes (including athlete students at OSU and men and women who competed professionally in weight lifting.) He used to walk/jog 5-10 miles a day up until 8-9 months ago when he started having breathing problems and frequent bouts of exhaustion.
Though I and other family/friends have been telling dad to go to the doctor (he hadn't been in 20 years!) he finally agreed to go when he had a really bad episode in early January and almost passed out. He was really afraid that he had lung cancer.
So I took him to the ER (I was only 10 days out of the hospital myself from surgery!) and they did a gazillion tests and came back that dad had diabetes with off the charts high blood sugar (my father ate a horrible sugary, fatty, salty diet his whole life) and he had had multiple heart attacks, heart function only 20% and he had several large blood clots. He had a triple by-pass heart surgery and surgery to implant a pacemaker. 7 weeks in the hospital. Finally came home, went to endless doctor and rehab appointments.
My dad was extremely shocked to learn he had heart disease, considering all the exercize he did (I know it's from damage from diabetes because of his diet) and he's been very aggravated and upset all this time. He hates doctors, hates tests, hates feeling so weak, and is so unbelievably stubborn about things (won't even take his medicine on his own! I have to put it in his hands 3x a day and make sure I see him take it and his insulin shots)
For the last month or so he's been feeling more hopeful about his progress, diabetes under control, eating a mostly better diet, having a lot less doctor appointments then he did a couple months ago.
Then yesterday (7/29/2012) he had a really bad day, very weak, lot of chest pain, 100.5 F temperature. So I made him go back to the hospital ER (what a fight it was to get him to go

But the tests they ran didn't show any further heart damage or infection, instead it showed multiple small nodules in his lungs, small lesions on his bones, bone thinning and enlarged prostate with off the chart high prostate PSA level....all things that were not there 2-3 months ago

The doctors really think it's cancer, the bad kind. He has appointments to get biopsies, so we have to wait for confirmed diagnosis.
So for those of you who pray, please keep my dad in your prayers and for me the energy and strength to deal with all these things. Thank you.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad Euro. Cancer seems to be just rampant, and I agree diet has much to do with it.
Hugs!

Hi, check with your doctors Cryogenic ablation procedure, it is the best to fight cancer. Dad and you too must initiate a detoxification diet urgently. Best wishes.
