There is now a new case, the 5th one, in the south: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/04/louise-thompson-flesh-eating-bacteria-fifth-necrotizing-fasciitis_n_1567664.html .
Makes you wonder why so many cases so close together for what is considered to be rare.

Flesh-eating bacteria, Face-eating zombies, Obama in the White House! What's happenning to this planet?

This has become one of my great fears in life! (It used to be limited to falling off of cliffs, the edge of anything really, subways will do it too, that's why some bridges can have the same affect on me), but the only answer to a flesh eating germ, is amputation.... or death! We've had cases in CT, too, so it isn't just the South.

Yes Bee, mine also. As a nurse I've cared for a couple cases, & I must say that is the 1 thing that scares me silly. It's nightmarish! And being diabetic makes me more susceptible......
! Very, very scary!
As you probably know, if you have a wound that hurts much more than you think it should.....something little that hurts a LOT.....you should get it treated asap. That severe pain from a tiny wound or sore is diagnostic, & don't let anyone blow you off. Make sure you tell them what you're worried about, & why.
