phase 1 is already in place and working - but isn't large enough.....not enough oil being shipped.......if it were larger and more oil could be processed our gas and heating oil prices would go down......

Already existing...... and so few spills.....
At present the oil excess oil is being trucked to refineries........talk about pollution and expense......all that exhaust from all those trucks....

I love how they always want to use current pristine areas for transporting their short term profits.

This pipeline would've transported a type of oil that is extremely expensive to extract and refine. The idea that this would reduce gas prices isn't exactly a proven fact, and many signs point to it actually increasing gas prices. There is also the very real possibility that the majority of the oil would just be exported to other countries anyway.

Bitumen is a nasty hazardous substance and to get it requires great destruction of natural resources and exposure to dangerous hazardous materials that could not easily be dealt with once released into the environment.
It's not Obama blocking the way, it's people who know better than to risk so much for so little.

Why is it that pristine areas are always in the first group of areas to be sacrificed for oil or any other rich persons' area of profit? I also love how misinformation is used to create fear that causes people to jump on the bandwagon rather than research the data for themselves in order to make informed decisions. It is right up there with those idiots saying GSDs and other breeds are dangerous and should be regulated rather than research the facts.
