The 1758 story regarding this Iceland dog is that it was sent from Iceland from the Count of Rantzar, viceroy of the Kingdom, to M. de Maupertius, who had it drawn by M. Fritck, dessinateur of the academy of Berlin. We only know that the dog was 1 ft. 7 inches in length, and 1 ft 2 in. height.

N Uch Töfra Dofri Brosi

My little angel Dofri deserved to be in a very special home and I couldn't think of a better home for him than with Sverre Aklestad in Norway. He was the owner of Gæfudís (who died tragically) and he missed her terribly. He was also the man who gave Hófi probably the best years of retirement that any dog could ask for. Sverre missed Hófi and was so happy to be able to have one of her grandsons. I think Dofri is a lucky boy :-) in more ways than one, he already fathered a litter very young by accident with Sverre's female ISD. Dofri is exrayed and is HD-A so I'm sure he will father other litters in future. He has done well at shows and was the Best of Breed at the big NKK show in Oslo in 2005. He has double dewclaws on one side and single on the other and his characteristic smile makes him very unique.

Töfra Dalla

Dalla is a sweet little girl and such a special character like her mother. She travelled across the ocean to Canada to live with my friend Valerie at Greenstone Kennels. There she gets to do lots of fun things like tracking and herding training. She lives on a small farm with different animals to herd and play with as well as other ISD's including her own offspring. She is the mother to some beautiful puppies that are already doing well at shows. Dalla was a bit unlucky to inherit her grandmother's (Snælukku Birta) and great great grandfather's badly curled tail so although she is a beautiful girl with wonderful temperament, good structure and coat, she isn't the best show dog because of her tail. But I know she is much loved and is a very good working dog. And probably most important, her puppies are wonderful!

Töfra Birta Freyja

Töfra Birta Freyja lives here at Töfra Kennels. She is a wheaten (chinchilla) longhaired with double dewclaws. She seems to have inherited her father's colouring and her mother's looks. Birta has her own page under "our dogs". There are a few video's of Birta in the photo album as well. Birta is only one of two of Freyja's puppies that has had offspring. She has so far had a litter of 5 beautiful puppies, 3 chinchilla, 1 red tan and 1 black tri. She is very pre-potent and has produced a near clone of herself that we decided to keep, his name is Klói and he has a page of his own as well.

Töfra Hvutti Valtýr

Töfra Hvutti Valtýr or also known as Valli (or Walter) lives with wonderful people in Holland and is co-owned by Kennel Fra Fuglatorgi and Kennel Fra Gull Lyklinum.  He is 6 weeks old on the left and about 1 year old on the right (taken at a dogshow in Holland by a friend of the owner).  Valli is Shorthaired with double dewclaws.

Töfra Hrói Grettir, named that because of his grinning smile lives in Maine, USA.  Hrói also known as Scooby Doo or Max is shorthaired with double dewclaws.  Here he is at 6 weeks old on the top left and around 18 months in the top right. Top right photo taken by Maureen-Anthoine-Orlandini. Töfra Hólmfríður Hrifla

Töfra Hólmfríður Hrifla was the first born and is named after her grandmother Hófí because of the striking resemblance (the litter was actually linebred to Hófí).  Hrifla has proven her great talent for herding at Reykjadals Kennel in Iceland.  On the left she is 6 weeks old and on the right she is 18 months old.  Hrifla is shorthaired with double dewclaws.  Right and center photo taken by Brynhildur Einarsdóttir
