We use them a lot. Helper seems to really like them. Depends on the dog though.

Something I want for Christmas. Definiitely would help with tagetting and long bite speed.

Guppyfry

We call those half-sleeves. We use a half sleeve a lot on younger dogs. A great way to transition young dogs from the puppy sleeve onto a more solid sleeve before going on a full sleeve. The makers of Redline say that the dogs that lack commitment or grip on a part  sleeve really like the half-sleeve and builds up their confidence wich carries over to work on a full sleeve.

They dont offer much support though for catching big dogs that come in very fast and very strong, even from a short distance (like mine, LOL).  We tried the half sleeve with him, but went directly onto the full sleeve because of his strenght.

Have used the Redline half and quite like it (keep in mind I am a newbie at helper work and at 5'4" and small frame/aka "wimpy" I don't have the physical capabilities for long bites etc though LOL), though it tends to rub the top forearm a bit when new.

The bite bar is a bit concave. Great to help with targeting work. What I really like about it (and others who I've also read have had similar comments) is it does allow greater dexterity. Also, super easy for a slip, very quick reward if needed, and great for those of us who have shorter arms who have a hard time finding a sleeve that fits decently. However, some seasons helpers on another discussion board did mention lack of elbow support as being a negative.

They sure seem to be using them alot overseas (perhaps not the redline per say but "half" sleeves anyways) for a variety of dogs. Dober's link is a good example (love that vid - many great examples of what looks like some pretty nice hard striking dogs).

I would love to hear more opinions on the Gappay one - have not seen one like that yet.

I priced the Redline targetting sleeve and at $174 it is WAY out of my price range.
I went to Ray Allen this AM to replace a Gappay bite pillow I left at the park last Saturday :-(
Anyway the Ray Allen bite builder is $120 with a cover. They have a NEW puppy 1/2 sleeve (9605 Lor R) now that is the bottom half of a 30C intermediate sleeve.( I'm not sure how cutting an imtermediate sleeve in half make it a puppy 1/2 sleeve? :-)) priced at $59.95 complete :-)
I bought it and just got back from working my dogs. SUPER for my two Dobermanns  but I'm not working my
GSD (who breaks handles when he bites the end of the sleeve) with it. I'll leave him for my club decoy to work :-)
