"Free flow of information can be used for good. But it can also be used for ill. And when people are using social media for violence, we need to stop them."

Beesting are you mental?....the media is controlled by
people JUST LIKE you...for 75 years now! Global depression far longer and more severe than anyone expected now seems nearly impossible to avoid. What do you want, China TV news?

Stop the free flow of information?
Does anyone really think that's a good thing?
Seriously?
If you do, you need to think that through a few more steps and re-evaluate yourself.
Hell they monitor it all now anyway, this wouldn't make sense for them.
How do you think they know what your up to now, they see, read, and listen to everything.
Moons.

It was a quote from the article, not my own, hope that clears your confusion. Still swooning over me, I see.
I have yet to state my opinion.

In our area there were kids using their phones and the media to create instant mobs to fuel their petty differences, they would do these things at movie theatres or malls. Can be quite frightening, I imagine, if one suddenly found yourself with a small child amid tempers starting to boil over, and then all one needs is an illegal weapon to start popping off for true mayhem to erupt.
I think there has to be some proper thinking and meaningful discussion on this, not just rantings of doomsday followers.

Bee,
I can't speak for Max, I have no clue what that's all about, but if you think cutting off communications and information systems is the answer to what's going on in the world, you are really messed up.
Since you included me in your doomsday remark I will tell you, you and people like are you the enablers who will stand there with a blank expression on your face as it all comes to pass.
You are truly a Nine, and you will be a resource for those higher up the food chain, those information systems might be the only thing that saves you.
Ask yourself why these things happen, don't just believe what your told by the powers that be, and you might find the answer to the problem.
Laws and rules will not save you from anything, nor will living in a bubble protect you, knowledge and awareness might come in handy though.
For some doomsday is already upon them, open your eyes and see.
Moons.

Moons, I have no idea what your "Nines" is all about. You guys want to make this personal with me, I want a discussion on what is currently happening when Social Media is used to incite violence. This is the type of unexpected consequence of "progress", that has a downside, don't you think?

by Two Moons on 12 August 2011 - 15:08
Bee,
stop saying you guys, I speak only for myself.
And no it's not personal at all, at least not with me.
The nine of ten rule is my own, your not alone at any rate.
Yes progress has a down side that is true.
The social media did not incite the violence, how could it.
Problem solving begins at the source.

No problem, Moons, good to know you aren't holding grudges.
It isn't about Social Media inciting violence, it is about their networks that are being used or perhaps stated as, abused, for dangerous purposes. Should that be addressed by the Social Media, or with laws? I see it posing huge risks for local police departments with limited manpower when multiple unruly gatherings happen, coincidentally. Public places become unsafe, at a moments notice, that kind of thing.
