You don't know enough even to ask a reasonable , relevant question. If you are young , I can cut you a little slack .. a little . That's what dogs do , most all dogs . They run around for many reasons. That is almost like asking why a child runs and plays. How in the world could anyone ever tell you about that dog and it's lineage SL vs WL ? If you are a teenager or an adult and asked that question , with sincerity, you are either bating people , or you are clueless about animals . I advise you whatever you do , don't get a dog.

To the OP, it finally boils down to the pup you get. No reputable sports or protection dog breeder is likely to pair you with one of their top prospects. Those dogs will go to homes where they will be properly utilised, and the best will be kept by the breeders themselves.
All you will get is a pet quality puppy.
So, find a good breeder, tell him your requirement, and see if they can provide you one.
If you're a keen learner, the dog will teach you everything hopefully in the next 12+ years.

Hm, the only thing the guy in Victoria would be capable of is to bash all breeders and condemn them as being the evil of all evils and that only he can recognize a good dog....sans any breeder, in other words, he don't need no damn breeder! And, according to the Vic auzzie, gsd are the stupidest dogs in the world because of breeders and Captain von Stephanitz, who he claims was a fraud.

OP apparently does not yet know WHAT he likes. OP might find even a pet quality W/L 'too much dog' for what the OP can manage, based on the OPs posts/questions; a S/L might be softer natured, ergo more appropriate.
"People should get experience from dogs they don't like before getting a proper GSD ?"
No. People should get experience of DOGS before getting a specific breed, particularly a big working breed; no matter how much they like the look of the GSD.

A novice doesn't get experienced asking a bunch of strangers on the internet about dogs, he has to live with a dog to become experienced. Hopefully, because I see a lot of people here spending an entire life with GSDs but know nothing worthwhile about the breed.
And no, you are not supposed to know anything about a Ferrari just because you have a Fiat.
