Facing reality does not mean that someone has a negative outlook on life. Just because I pointed out how violence in our society may contribute to violent tendencies in young people, I am accused of being a "gloom seeker." And, as a teacher, you are insinuating that I "impose negative crap" on my students? Who are you to judge what kind of teacher I may or may not be?
Just because I made a reference to "rose colored glasses," does not mean that I think there is no beauty in life. It means that I'm no longer naive enough to think that this world is like a fairy tale. There is a lot of beauty in this world and we should all appreciate it. But, we must also see the dangers that exist.

No, I said kids don't need a bunch negative crap imposed on them by teachers or parents. And that's what I meant...personal experience, gg.
You, said, " sadly, this is a bleak world we live in.....I took off those rose colored glasses a long time ago."
Your world may be bleak, so you can drop the "we"....my world is not bleak, I don't care what is in the news. I can still grow vegetables and butcher for meat.

"Bleak" was a term you chose, remember?
You wrote: "Geese, what a bleak world you describe. You guys need to come to this side of the country."
My personal life/world is far from bleak. The point is the world as a whole is not picture perfect.....too many problems. Too much violence. That is reality.

Hey, you said "sadly this is a bleak world we live in. Just watch the news". Then, you "took off the rose colored glasses a long time ago", and now you are flipping it around like you're quoting me?.....bull.
What ever you say, "you've got the power....."

Ummm, I was quoting you when I wrote about a "bleak world" since you used the term first in this thread. Ever heard of paraphrasing?
by joanro on 18 June 2014 - 14:06
Sure, I know what paraphrasing is, and it isnt taking two words out of context and using it in a new sentence with completely different meaning of the original phrase......You said ".......this is a bleak world we live in."
You took "bleak world" from "that's a bleak world yall described."( that's paraphrasing).
The world I live in is not bleak, life is what you make it.
