Baerenfangs Erbe

"Geht ein wenig Hackeneng" means that she kept her hocks close together while walking. So basically "Walked narrow in hocks" maybe?

Thank you, Baer!

I am very much surprised that such a tremendous producing dam would have no photo anywhere? I think she produced over a dozen titled dogs......and her bloodline lives on in many good dogs.

I wonder if gsdstudent still posts on this forum?

I guess Wilma herself was nothing special - just a brood bitch - not worth a picture.
Mediumsized ( today we would say small ), and pretty heavy, no show dog...

Used at least 10 times for breeding, at least by 3 different breeders.

Bred to Canto she produced Flora Königsbruch, one of the most famous females in history ( mother of the R-litter Haus Beck, the D-litter Wienerau, the N-litter Wienerau, the U-litter Wienerau ),
bred to Lasso ( Quanto ) she produced the X-litter Arminius - the next still existing line...

In both cases linebred on Jalk - when I take a look at the breed survey report, I´d guess in both cases in phenotype the males ( out of the same lines ) influenced the outcome of the breedings more than Wilma.

Just a guess, maybe not the truth - I grew up with Reza, Dax, Nick, Lasso...those are the dogs I remember.

Thanks again, Fantom!

Susie....She sounds pretty dang special special to me!! Damn...if that's not special than I don't know what is!! haha

From the database, it looks like she produced 13 V rated dogs and 2 VA's bred to 9 different sires. From her, come some of the most influential shepherds in the breed. I don't think that is the sires influencing. Screw that!! That's an incredible brood bitch that can produce better than herself!! I think she was definitely worth a photo! hehe Wink Smile

It just goes to show how looks can be deceiving!!!

Can you or others please tell me about Lasso? Was he has stable as people have said or is that revisionist history? Thank you!!!!!!!

No, sicklehocks is not the same as hackeneng.

You can see hackeneng in younger dogs but it goes away once they grow.

Lasso appears in a lot of working line pedigrees. He was known for producing dogs that could actually work, therefore a good dog to have in a show line pedigree as well!

Baerenfangs Erbe - are you sure about the meaning of hackeneng. . I was given that translation by a German dog breeder.  In checking online for the definition of Sickle hocks in dogs, it says a dog standing with rear pasterns slightly forward in order to support weak hindquarters.  (A more acute angulation of the hock than normal)..... so that would be slightly different than hocks being close together.  Maybe we can get a German member to clarify it for us.

Suffix "ENG" is narrow, tight, close fitting......  so your translation makes more sense.

Not that special in case of a show career, but special in case of breeding...

Lasso was a dog of the "new" generation - pretty, different, modern - not the still common 50s type - and some of his descendants inherited the will to work...

interestingly the females more impressive than the males ( just my impression ).

Thanks Sunsilver and Susie!!

Susie, per our previous communications, I would love to sit down with you someday and just pick your brain!!! Glad you post on here and share your knowledge as it is very unique and from a perspective most of us do not have....

Sunsilver, you too....we usually tend to think alike a lot of them time which is quite interesting!!! :-)
