dam neighbours dog got on my property, well stuck it's head thru the mesh and got dragged in. by the time i got there things were a mess. i beat my dogs off it which is not easy as when you get one off another will occuppy the space. anyhoo i grabbed the oher dog to throw it over the fence and got nailed good. took the bite and got the other hand nailed. managed to throw it over the fence with a k9 in my hand which ripped in my flesh while dog was sailing over the fence. cos i had to go to hospital the reports had to be filed.
will get some pics up just have to downlaod some file conversion software for my new camera.
don't know what else i could have done other watch his dog get killed, defy anyone to say there obed is that good they can stand down a pack on instant command, the whole thing was less than a minute from when i got there.
neigbour is of the opinion that his dog will learn eventually and stop crossing the road off it's property to pick a fight and refuses to shut his gate as it is an inconvenience for him.
if his dog gets killed he will just go to the markets and get another, no big deal for him, just something that happens.

Sounds like you care more about the dog than the owner. So are they paying for the hospital bills?
by vk4gsd on 04 May 2014 - 00:05
VKGSD, in australia we do not have hospital bills generally, i will pay a few bucks for antibiotics.
to clarify you can choose to got to a private hospital and pay for it if you wish.
FYI our current gov as we speak is trying to be like the US mess and get rid of our free medical and education, not being political just stating facts, you can google the debate if you are interested, all very topical.
and yes i do not want to see any dog get hurt period, and i am deeply saddened that from this moment my gsd and two pups now know what a fight is, my bubble has been burst which hurts more than anything else, the threshold has been crossed and things will never be the same.
i worked so hard to avoid this moment, fukin hours and months of training wasted.
it is a sad day for me.

How awful for you! We had a neighbor that absolutely refused to keep their intact black Lab in their yard, they didn't have a fence, would just let it out the door and it would wander the neighborhood; we talked to them repeatedly about keeping it in their yard, but they never seemed to understand why we had a problem with their dog being in our yard all the time. We finally called the police because the dog was actually quite aggressive; the police showed up, tried to catch the dog, almost got bit, and slapped the owners with a fine. The dog disappeared shortly afterward; guess the owners didn't want to accept the full responsibility of owning a dog. 😒
I hope your hands heal ok.

Ah, yes duh, I forgot, we're the only developed nation where you still get a $2500 bill just for some antibiotics and a few stitches (that was the charge last time a dog tore my flesh)
Sorry it happened, I've been there (though only two dogs were involved). I know it feels like *hours* when your adrenaline is rushing and the whole thing only takes seconds. We'd like to think we can instantly call our dogs off anything with a verbal cue....in reality I don't know anyone that can do that 100%, especially in a fight that is escalating.

When we discussed the 'merits' of your fencing, when you first
started posting, I believe I told the sorry tale of a similar thing
that happened to me. Fortunately our dogs only got the other
one's head through the wire, they did not succeed in getting him
all the way across the fence before we beat them off. And I didn't
get (properly) bitten. But the sick feeling of how quick it all was,
and how difficult to stop - with another going in as fast as I got
one off - and what a let down when otherwise well trained dogs
would not stop while their blood was up, will never leave me, and
was brought flooding back by your OP. So I too honestly undertand
what its like. Commiserations - both cos you got bitten, and cos
its such an emotional bummer.

Whenever I have had to break up a fight (not often, thankfully) I go in with the mindset that I am going to get bit. Always have had to physically get them apart. I think they go deaf to commands when in dog fight mode. Never had to deal with more than two though, can't imagine the difficulty of more. Sure makes your adrenaline shoot sky high.
Seems like everyone has at least one stupid neighbor. Hopefully won't adversely affect your dogs or your hands.

A nightmare for every responsible dog owner.
Hopefully no complications - dog bites are no fun.
Doesn´t sound like a warm-hearted neighbour, though...poor dog.
