I'm importing a dog from Germany and I get a call stating that instead of flying into the original airport she now has to fly into Detroit. I was told I would need to get a dog broker for her to be released. All dog brokers in the airport will be gone by the time her flight arrives. Are there any after hours dog brokers that anyone can recommend in this area? Any help would be appreciated.

i don't know where you are located, but i have had dogs cleared in detroit & then flown to mnpls where i picked them up myself. typically, if the pup leaves frankfurt early morning, they can make detroit in time to be cleared before those folks leave. i had a problem with mnpls because of the time. the last one i imported came by way of chicago, was cleared there & i picked him up in mnpls. you don't need a broker if the dog is for yourself. they'll ask you a bunch of questions, but their concern is people who are importing dogs to resale. i assume you are using gradlyn. they will collect for all fees in advance, including the customs fee. you shouldn't have a problem.

I would contact the brokers now (during the day) because it can take awhile to go through all of the paperwork involved. They will then clear the dog for you before it ever hits the airport. The broker I used was Geodis/wilson, Adrea Lesher. They were great to work with. 734-955-2400

I sense if you were using Gradlyn you would not be having this problem unless it is something else is complicating things.
My import came from Germany directly to Chicago.
I had to fill out forms and pay fees at customs though.
