I was in chat and then it froze. I can see what others write, but I can't do anything. I am on an iPad.

Rebooting did not help. There is a "reader" indicator in the address bar. Let me know if you need more info.

it pauses after 5 minutes of inactivity. (thats to stop people from leaving their computers and keep the server busy).. Could that have happened?

No, it happened while I was chatting. I tried shutting down chat, then site, then internet, then iPad. None helped. After awhile, chat started working again, but it was painfully slow on the refresh.
