whoa, no, not normal, the pasterns and hocks are very loose and down.  what is this pup being fed?  excessive protein from a non-raw animal source can cause problems exactly like what this pup has.    If this pup's condition is caused by it's diet, then it can be completely reversed and the pup can be normal again.  Whether it's diet-caused or purely genetics, this pup will also need a lot of physical support and therapy.

Normal photo of an abnormal puppy.

Fred Lanting has covered much of this in his book. Puppy has weak pasterns and hocks.

I am not saying this is normal because it is not.  HOWEVER, I have seen this before and with the proper diet and proper exercise, it strengthened the ligaments corrected itself.   The puppy had no abnormalities as an adult.  The dog walked normal without any indication of the problem as a puppy.

Yeah but ... that's the problem we now face.  Pups start off so dreadfully weak in
ligaments;  they tighten up with correct diet and exercise;  walk/look ok as adults;
so ppl breed the next generation with them, not thinking maybe this was not so
'normal', and there is maybe a GENETIC PREDISPOSITION to overloose ligaments
when young;  and then we increasingly get this breeding on ... AND ON.

Bad environment, ie exercise and food....pup looks like it is confined too much. Predisposition for this result is in every animal that has legs and walks on the ground.

Joan - so why, back in the day when people fed their dogs tablescraps,
and no one had yet analised optimum feeding and exercise stuff, did
we NEVER [and I MEAN 'never'] see little pups like this ?  And why is
this becoming more and more common [and excused] in Am S/L; or by
people in eastern bloc countries breeding to sell to the rich Americans ?

This is a dog being sold in India as show prospect...
Never seen a photo like that before, I'd be devastated to have a puppy like that.
