Made the URL into a link for you. I think you'll have more views of the thread, and thus reach more people, if you flesh out your post a little more, and mention that your dog needs help in the topic line...otherwise, people tend to think it's just someone sharing an interesting link or something.

Is there any possibility to pay with paypal?
My EC card / Germany doesn´t work...Sad Smile

by hexe on 28 October 2012 - 21:10

susie, I was afraid that was going to be a problem, when I saw that Giveforward only accepted credit cards.... Cry Smile

hellion, if you have a PayPal account yourself, or have a friend or family member who has one, it would be a good idea to set up a ChipIn site for Kinko, too--there's no reason you couldn't have both sites running, so people who prefer to use PayPal can still help Kinko out.  ChipIn doesn't charge any fees themselves, but the receiving PayPal account is charge a fee depending on where the money is coming from, and whether it's cash, debit or credit payement.  Still, the Giveforward fee for the donation I just put through for Kinko would have charge you a $7 fee, if I hadn't agreed to cover the fee, too.  I think the max PayPal charges is 3.9%, plus some additional depending on currency exchange...

The ChipIn info page is http://www.chipin.com

hellion, please read the information here:    http://www.eyedvm.com/eyeinfo-cataract.html

You mention in the Giveforward introduction that Kinko appears to have discomfort in the eyes at present, which causes me to wonder if perhaps the cataracts are actually breaking up on their own, as explained in the veterinary opthalmology clinic's handout link above--in which case, he may not need surgery, but rather will need supportive treatment until the reabsorption of the material is complete [which can still be costly, but will probably be far less than $5000.00]. The most important part of the clinic's handout, however, is this paragraph:

"The most important thing to remember is that there is no need to hurry in making a decision. Cataracts are not painful and there are worse things than being blind. Consult with your veterinary ophthalmologist to find out more about the surgery."

Keep us posted on how things are going, and again, don't lose hope, and don't rush into anything.

hellion, I agree with hexe, you might want to put links to your other posts on this thread, so people can see how your plight to help save the eyes of your young dog is fully understood. I will be making a donation after dinner, but, because it is not a (501 c 3), that does make a difference on an amount I donate.

I am encouraged that you have perservered to do what you can to help save your dog's sight. Rose

paypal will be available in 3 days =]

by hexe on 30 October 2012 - 01:10

Good job, hellion.  Having the option of PayPal will make it easier for people who don't or can't use a credit card to do what they can to help you and Kinko out.  Again, don't fret over the time frame--while it's certainly easier for the surgeon to remove the cataracts if they're still immature, they can actually be removed a year or more from now...so if it takes more than a month to raise the funds, it'll still be OK.
