I have this woman keep contacting me,telling me she bought a dog from my sister about 4 years ago, and my sister was supposed to give her the AKC papers for her female dog. NOW, she has a litter of pups and wants me to give her the full registration papers for the dog.I told her NO. I asked her if she has the contract from my sister and of course she has to look for it. Do ya think I am wrong?

no you are not wrong. if she is going to breed a dog it is her responsibility to make sure she has all her ducks in a row before she goes ahead with a breeding not the sister of the one whom she received a dog from.

Why is she contacting you and not your sister, the person she got the dog from originally? I'd tell her it's not your business, you didn't sell her the dog.

My sister passed away not to long ago.I took her dogs,(sorry I didn't clarify that).

Sorry about your sister. but still not your problem. No contract or written agreement, then there is no proof of what really took place. even if you feel bad for the woman what proof is there that this is the dog she recieved from your sister or the agreement that the two of them had. don't allow your self to be guilt tripped into doing something that you are uncomfortable with.

Oh I'm so sorry KitKat I didn't know that about your sis. But I agree with the above poster.

I myself am pretty sure my sister did not give her full AKC,(can't be 100%, but I am at least 90% sure she did NOT). I just don't know how much this person is going to try to PUSH for them. She has become a bit of a nusance over it.(thank you rtdm...)

I'm sorry to hear abour your sister. I agree with everyone else. Someone who was really interested in the papers and thought they belonged to her, would have obtained them BEFORE she ever bred the dog. Why did she wait till after the pups were born? Sounds like someone gave her the idea to contact you. She has had 4 years, kinda late now to start demanding.
Maybe she promised someone papers too and now she is stuck.

I know its extra difficult now that she's gone.....
Did your sister "usually" sell her dogs with limited registration, if so, what were her requirements for the limited to be changed to full?
Did she register the litter - limited or full?
Do you have what's necessary to get this info from the kennel club? Power of attrny, will, death certificate or whatever they ask for?
IMO
If you've taken on her dogs, you've also taken on the resposibilities of her breeding program and her puppy clients to an extent. Kind of a good with the bad issue or visa versa.
Has this dog had usually health checks before having puppies? Hips/elbows, etc?

Are the pups worthy? If yes, I'd give her the papers. If not, then, your sister probably wouldn't have either.
