Has anyone recently imported frozen semen from Europe?  Specifically Belgium?  I'm looking into doing this and trying to figure out approximate cost, and also any import requirements.

First, you need to find out if this is allowed as many organizations will not allow anything else but natural breeding. then you can see what the cost is. Good luck.

I already know it's allowed, AKC outlines on their website what needs to be done to register any pups resulting from this type of breeding, and the USDA has requirements on their website.  Which are minimal.  I'm looking to find out A) approximate cost for the shipping/handling of the semen (the stud down owner will determine his stud fee) and B) any hidden requirements that popped up during the process that I should know about ahead of time.

I'm actually unaware of any canine registry that only allows natural breeding, is that a GSD thing?  I know in some horse breeds that's also the case.

, It is not AKC issue, it is the stud owner country issue. I am not sure about Belgium but in Czech or Slovakia, AI are not allowed and only natural breedings will be registrable!

The cost? You need to figure out that from the European side. Whoever sells you the semen, should be able to use services of a company that transports medical supplies or similar cargo. But I am sorry I can'thelp you there, I would ask the person who is selling the semen if they can talk to the reproduction vet who must freeze the semen as how this can be done.

Malndobe, yes, it is a GSD-thing, specifically a thing that is prohibited by the German breed registry, and most likely the other countries' registries as well, since they typically conform to the SV's rules.
