Hello to all who read this .
Today while we where speaking to a friend , He tell us a story about someone we know .
They have a Malinois mix ,
2 days ago , The dam ate all the puppies everytime they where delivered  , one after another .
11 pups in total .
What does this mean ?
I have googled it  ,, and it only mentions that if  1-2 deformed or sick .
The only thoughts that i have is , if she is starving or the dog is crazy in the head .....

Look fwd to ones comments .

It doesn't mean that she's starving. It could mean she's missing some essential nutrients though. Some bitches should not be bred because they do things like this with every litter, no matter if there are faults in the pups or not. Sometimes a bitch will eat a pup if there's something wrong with it. Were they all alive or did she deliver already dead pups? And I know this is a little off-topic, but why would you breed a mixed dog in the first place? Spay the girl and be done with it IMO.

All the pups where alive ,

And I know this is a little off-topic, but why would you breed a mixed dog in the first place .

When you say the word  ` YOU `  , are you meaning me ?

I agree with Macrowell, many times if the bitch is over bred without rest and or lacks sufficient nutrients for her puppies she might eat them. If she's stressed or afraid she might eat them too. In many cases it is owner's fault. Not all bitches who ate their puppies are genetically faulty, no.
I know of a bitch who delivered 3 litters consequtively without any problem whatsoever, 4th litter of 4 puppies, she delivered them alive and kicking and then ate all of them, is that her fault ?!!!!!!!!!!!

I do know of a bitch who ate half her litter during a thunder storm.  But that is the only one I have known. ( yes the bitch was weak nerved and should never have been bred...)

Lahuna, were you Theo's breeder? That's not a breed you often see as a war dog.

[OT] After reading that link, I would like to know what the cat did to merit a medal! Omg Smile [/OT]

Sometimes no one knows why these things happen. But I'd have to say your friend SHOULD have been watching the delivery to make sure the pups were okay! Responsible breeders never let a female whelp unattended.

It could have been she was a first time mother, and really didn't understand what these squeaky little things were, or maybe her hormones didn't kick in right away to bring out the right maternal instincts. It could be she didn't feel safe in the location where she was whelping the pups.

I would definitely think twice before letting her have a second litter, though.

To make fun of the dead is not nice to say !!!!!!!!!!!!

I would rather have that so called cat you say , rather than your show pony  ,

Wow, talk about prickly!  That was a SERIOUS question. I was not making fun of the cat! I was seriously wondering what a cat could have done to be awarded a military medal. I know pigeons and dogs are used in wartime, but never heard of a cat doing military service before. Was it trained for the job, or did it just learn the task on its own?

And one of my 'show ponies' is a service dog that likely saved my life one night! Sad Smile

I wondered if you were Theo's breeder because I was trying to understand the link between you and Theo. I don't understand why you posted that link, when the topic was something entirely different.

And yes, I certainly understood it was not YOUR dog which ate its puppies.

I had a 3 yr old first time bred bitch whelp 9 healthy pups, I was at her side throughout the whelping. When she was done and the pups were nursing, mom napping, I felt it a good time to go rest myself. When I came back a couple hours later, she had eaten the entire litter!!  I chalked it up to first-time whelping.  So gave her a second chance, she whelped 5 pups, and was an excellent mom. Third (and last) time she whelped 9 again, healthy live pups, and overnight she ate all them. So she was placed, never to be bred again. She was on a good diet, free fed, in excellent condition herself, so I don't think it was a nutrition issue.
