Dogs itchy red paws - Page 1

Several weeks ago I switched our chocolate lab, Bosco, to Blue Basic Salmon. He was having a terrible problem with his paws. They were bright red, loosing fur and itching. We tried several other grain free dog food brands, with little result. We were treating him with anti-yeast and anti-fungal creams and 10 days of Flagyl antibiotic, but his paws still would not clear up. After switching to Blue Basics-Salmon grain free dog food (4 weeks ago), his paw problem is almost gone. We are still treating his paws with the creams, and Food Grade Diatomaceous powder. I think the other dog food brands are putting ingredients in their food that are irritating dogs skin. Bosco loves the Salmon grain and preservative free food. It has cranberry and yucca, so our lawn brown spots are also gone! Great job! This dog food is expensive, but the cost of constant vet bills is way higher! If you can feed your best friend a really good food, and he loves it, I say go for it. We figure the higher price is well worth it.

DO NOT FEED ANY WHEAT OR CORN PRODUCTS!

Oopsie...double post.

Hook worms can cause itchy red paws, have you wormed recently.....not just with the heart worm plus stuff, but really wormed.....?

Also, research candida. Treat for leaky gut syndrome and see what happens. More often than not, it's not a straightforward food issue.
