I am thinking of importing a good (medium) quality dry dog food, I can sell 4000-5000 kilos per year, any suggestions and links to manufacturer websites are welcome, I am located in Jordan (Middle East) so close manufacturers are preferred for less cost of transportation.

Use google or alibaba to search for pet food manufacturers in your country and countries nearby.
I found this pet food manufacturer in Greece, would that be to far?

and manufacturers/companies in Turkey

Marketed in Israel, but I think manufactured in Turkey?

What about dry/cool storage??

by Ibrahim on 22 July 2012 - 17:07

Nans, will you elaborate a little more. You mean how I shall store the product?

by Nans gsd on 22 July 2012 - 17:07

Yes, where and how??  It can't get damp, it cant get too hot and over a period of time?  Inside would be best as you want to keep it as cool as possible for a long period of time.  Just curious, that is a lot of food; would it be like 100 bags or so depending on what you get?  Nan

I have a reinforced concrete building store, spacious, weather here is dry in summer, inside temperature is between 20-25 Celcius (68-77 F).
If the sack is 20 kg (44 lb), then above quantity is 200-250 sacks and I see I made a mistake, I can sell 800-1000 sacks per year as a start, that is 16000- 20000 kilos (35200- 44000 lbs) .

It can't also be put under direct sun as it will stiffen and some oils will be wasted, I was told.

Currently I am feeding my dogs a medium quality dry food (RC), I buy it at $ 4.8/kilo (2.18/lb) and I strongly think that is a theft.
I am looking for a food of medium quality to sell to the dog owner at round $ 2 / kilo ($ 1.00/lb) and make some decent profit at the same time.
