1990 Disney movie inspired by the true story of a husky/collie/German shepherd mix enlisted in the US's Dogs for Defense program in 1942. Chips became the most decorated K-9 of WWII. Chips the War Dog is one of the movies profiled in the book Wonder Dogs: 101 German Shepherd Dog Films, which is available on Amazon.com. Vilas, the shepherd who played Chips, was trained by Karl Lewis Miller, trainer of Cujo, Beethoven, Babe and many others.
