Because winning and the benefits of winning are more important than integrity and good character.

Same reason that    Women cheat on their husbands, husbands cheat on wives, athletes cheat and take enhancements drugs, kids cheat of final exams in school,  Government officials cheat on documents they release to public, Breeders cheat on pedigrees, treasurers of organizations and banks obscound funs  and taint the books, book keepers change the numbers, Stock Holders and agents cheat with online bookies, bookies cheat with offline bookies, and the world of crime is Greater than the world of HONEST< TRUTH<FAITHFUL>LOYAL> CHARACTER>MORALS>AND ACCOUNTABILITY>

which somewhere in our Country and others, got kicked by the wayside and swept under the  IF IT FEELS GOOD DO IT and IF IT IS THE QUICK WAY TO SUCCESS DO IT..

Been in gear since the beginning of MAN..and will continue until the END of TIME>>>

because their parents didn't teach them ethics and morals.....

the other day a father lied to me in front of his childern....it was obvious he was telling a story.... once he was done, i scolded him for being such a horrible roll model and that if his kids ever lied to him, than don't ask them where they learned to do it. low live trash, and living in a very expensive neighborhood with nice cars and everyting else.

Some people are a holes....
This is a Mcdonalds society.  People want instant gratification.  Hard work is well ...hard.  Much easier to lie and cheat.   Plus in our society bad people are rewarded and good people get screwed.  Being a good person with high morals and integrity is too hard for those with a serious lack of spine.  Cheating is easy, they do it and get away with it.  There is a reason the average length of time most people are in dogs is a very short 5 years.

On the other hand when someones first anonymous post asks about cheating. I figure their dog Fluffy just got beat and they figure someone must be cheating or paying off the judge ;-)

Not necessarily, I think many of us saw a share of dogs that 'surprisingly' won the competition. I think that 'cheating' (I'm not sure about buying the judge) is pretty common practice as well as the fact that a newbie rarely wins. Everybody has to pay their dues.

I've heard once from a judge of many years that, in his whole career, he saw only ONE dog, that belonged to a newbie, that simply was so outstanding that he had to win.

Just wait til a judge does what they did to me in the ring.  Our dog placed second to a obviously ( even a rookie could tell) inferior dog.  As the judge is handing me  the ribbon he says "your dog is way better quality, I just don't like the color".......  DO you think the professional handlers standing ringside ever showed dogs under this judge again.  We just laugh about it now but at the time it was infuriating.  The owner of the other dog just kept apolgizing to me.  I just replied a dog show is one mans opinion on the day.  The next day we took a best in show with that very same male.  Dog shows are a frustrating ordeal on a good day.
