Comman questions regaurding wolves and wolf-hybrids.
Should you own a wolf hybrid?
It's hard to judge this question because it depends on how you treat your animals. I have atleast 17 yrs in expirence wolves basically raised me. My dad use to breed high content wolf hybrids. Well my father had little time for us kids. Let me share my many memories ....Sable was a 98 percent wolf-hybrid weight around 130 pounds. I have real bad seizures this dog would lay down next to me watching me licking me in the face she was basically my mother. She died age 6 got shot in the head because some1 broke into the house. She didn't attack the man until he walked in my bedroom and she did a number on him so he shot her in front of my eyes. Miytuk is a highly trianed dog she can smell gun poweder on someones hands and she will not let them near me or my child. She saved my child when my kid fell off a dock and hit her head . Mia was and still is a very devoted dog me and my child were at a off leach dog park. Where a doverman attacked my kid by the throat Mia (98 percent wolf) took charge I was scared *hitless I told my dog no my dog didnt care I expected the dogs to play tug of war with my 4 yr old I ran like crazy. Mia killed the doverman without hurting my child at all. Mia is amazing I wouldn't own a diffrent breed for this reason.
Are wolf-hybrids dangerous?
Yes...wolf-hybrids are dangerous they can rip ur throat out ....So can a standard poodle, a pitbull any breed of dog. People think wolves are aggresive in truth IN A PACK they can be but a lone wolf is usually shy. I am NOT stating there is no reports of wolf attacks in or out the wild if they feel threatend or if they are close to starving they may attack. This is any dog!
Can you train a Wolf-Hybrid???
Yes.. my dog knows over 50 commands I am not saying she will do the commands all the time. Because wolves are not people pleasers like a Lab.There is certain commands that she will obey 9-10
basic commands and safe words. My dog however can judge the situation like if I am being attacked and I tell her to stay she won't do that she will immedently go in for a kill. You must remeber these are pack animals! Safe words are a must esp if u plan on playing rough. They need to learn the safe word yes I am stressing this. When training do not abuse this dog scolding works better. If u abuse them they learn to fear you if they fear you they WILL bite you.

Why would you want to? You have to devote a huge amount of your life as a commitment to these animals, if you do. The wild animals deserve a wild to live in, is a better answer, I think.

I'm not going to comment on the rest of the post...but most dog parks do not allow young children for a very good reason. I hope your child is ok.

Not again! Another wolf hybrid thread!

This is a strange post...was this in response to another specific thread or just a new self-proclaimed expert who wants to promote these animals?
Picked the wrong place to do it at.

Should Wolf/dog cross be available to anyone with a check book... absolutely NOT. I've known several cross' over the years, some very well adjusted animals who were stable and relatively safe in public. The humans who were partnered with them dedicated a large amount of time to interacting with them. Generally there was a "wolf room" in the house with minimal furniture and decorating, where they could hang out with the wolfdog without worrying about correcting them for chewing or peeing on the furnishings floor or walls. (generally they aren't housetrainable) However 3 awesome animals out of hundreds who have bad endings makes a sad point. Two of the ones I knew were used for public education programs... both were shot at later times by neighbors who feared them.
Wolves do give your heart a rush of adrenalin... and having a cross may seem like a great idea, but it's not really fair to the wolf portion.

Tames, In Living, we experience all manner of things, but what we learn from experiences will obviously vary considerably, depending on many aspects of those experiences. The Domestic Dog has a huge gene pool, without stepping into the Wild gene pool, and interfering with our wild cousins.
I also own cats (two different Domestic Breeds) - Might it be interesting to consider breeding with a Wild Lynx? - Surely it would make an interesting combination, bringing more of the wild aspect into the domestic cat? No, certainly not. There are more than enough Domestic Species to admire and continue their genes. While leaving the Lynx (or any other Wild Cat) to mate with their own, and continue their own genes, to be admired for the species they are.
I like the Wolf as a Wolf, and my German Shepherds as German Shepherds. Not mixed ..... Why????
(By the way, just somewhat confused by your Message that a Dobermann attacked your 4 year old child by the throat, then your dog attacked the Dobermann without hurting your child. If a dog of strength attacked the throat of a young child, there are going to be serious physical consequences! I do hope that your child somehow managed to escape serious injury. A very frightening and potential fatal situation).
Respectfully, I do sometimes wonder if there is an element of people wanting to be seen owning, taking charge, and walking a Tiger (or similar) down the High Street ........!

Vixen

For every wolf/wolf hybrid that is able to adapt to some semblance of life in captivity, how many live out a miserable existence because they cannot adapt. A wolf is not born to be in a cage or fence.
I really cannot express the contempt I feel for those who do such things (admin wouldn't like it). And for what purpose, to feed your ego, to make a little money. No other reason I can come up with.
