Here's a feel good one for everyone! Now they do mention a labrador in this article, but in my state, I'm pretty sure shepherds rule. Even our dinky towns seem to have a K9 cop, and the one's I've seen have been GSD's. How about an informal census from members here, of where they live...does your town have a K9 cop? What breeds do they use? Just curious, really. If you have an interesting K9 cop story you want to share, do it here!

What a great thread.
The town my business is located in does not have a K9. However one of the cops told me the following story;
The police had surrounded the area where a man with a gun was hiding. It was like 2 AM, they didn't want to go in until daylight. So one of the officers got on a bullhorn, announcing if the man didn't surrender they were going to let the dog get him, you could hear loud barking in the backround.
The guy threw down his gun and yelled he wanted to surrender. After he was cuffed and being led away he asked where is the dog? He was told we don't have one, that was officer so and so imitating a K9.

I am going to post the brutal video of our local 'k-9' officer deploying his.. ahem. not so very well trained dog into a very big brawl.. the dog runs away the first time.. then the deputy 'drags' the dog back to the fight and the dog bite the other deputy in the ass !!! I have no idea who did this dogs certification ..(if any) .. the video isnt the best and I cant edit it.. so you just have to look for it.. kinda funny in a sad way!!!
