tracking harness vs aggitation harness for puppies - Page 1

i am looking to buy a harness for my 5 month old malinois who is doing puppy bite work and tracking. I am trying to figure out the difference between the aggitation harness and tracking harness, they look pretty similar.

If you're doing SchH either of those will work fine for bitework and for tracking most people use a Fursaver and not a harness.  My aggitation harness is advertized as a tracking harness, I have no idea why since I know dozens of people that use the same harness for bitework and have never seen it used for tracking.

If you look closely, I think you'll find that there is a sturdy D ring on the Top of the agitation harness, which lays across the dog's back and is there for the backline to be attached too.

On the tracking harness, the ring fitting is positioned to lay against the chest, under the front legs to position the line beneath the dog.

That is the difference.

Personally if you are doing both - you don't need to you the same equipment.   The equipment you use tends to represent the work you are about to do........Case in point, when my boy was doing bite work with his agitation harness - he would get all geared up because he knew that everytime he put that on he was going to get to bite.....If you used the same harness for the tracking - he wouldn't be in tracking mode - but "bite" mode..........  as he matured - the agitation harness went away - but I still wouldn't use it for tracking.........

Just my opinion though.
