The UPS guy last night told me I have the nicest GSD he's ever met!

The FEDX guy still won't get out of his truck, though.... go figure!

this one has me rolling on the floor. ;)  i thought it was just my fedex guy that was a freak!  maybe that is part of the requirement for the job.  they only hire guys that are terrified of dogs, lurk around your house for a place to stash the package and then literally fly back to the truck without touching the ground.  you should see this guy.  we've even talked to him and told him he was safe.  we never ever let dogs run loose.  still the sound of barking dogs has him electrified.

The UPS guys are always better. Not to mention the one that comes here a lot,  has trained a lot of police k9s so we always talk about dogs if he has the time.

The power company's meter reader is our biggest wimp.  We didn't know that our electronic meter wasn't working correctly when the meter reader came by (it's in the back of our house which is fenced in and our gsds are out while we are at work).  The meter reader kept coming to read the meter while we were at work and couldn't get a reading, but he didn't leave a message to let us know about it.  So we had no idea until he showed up on Saturday morning and knocked on our front door.  When I answered the door, one of my gsds was by my side.  He became very nervous and pointed at my dog then told me that he's been by to read our meter several times and tried to lean over our fence to get a better reading, but our dogs would not let him (duh!).   He said he was scared of them.  I told him we had no idea and that he should have left us a message and we would have put them up for the day so he could come check on the meter.   We put our dogs up and he replaced our meter as fast as he could; he couldn't wait to leave!

Unless I happen to hear FedEx drive up, so I can go out of the yard to meet them. They always leave my packages at my neighbors, they won't even blow the horn to give me a chance to come out.
The AT&T guys are great. My phone/Internet goes out often, the guys have been out here so much they walk right on in the yard. Of course when they are kneeling next to the house where the cable comes up, my dogs are right there looking over their shoulder. I've went out and told the guy if he would give me just a minute, I would get them all in the house. He always says, no leave them. he loves dogs.
The gas man was another story, even if I put the dogs on leash he refused to come in the yard until they were locked up in the house.
I hate to see people so scared of dogs, but I never push it. You never know their reasoning, that is their business.
I will tell them once the dogs won't be a problem, if they act uncomfortable in any way, I will lock the dogs up.
I'm terrified of snakes, but others have no problem with them.

LOL
Just read the post about power company. Yea, another that wont come in my yard. We have 3 meters on the 15 acres. Up until the end of last year when they changed over to digital meters, the meter reader always had binoculars and sat in his truck to read the meter. I was all the time receiving notices from the light company that I had to trim the shrubs on my fence so the meter reader could see.
No, it's not funny. Sad actually that someone can be so terrified of something that can bring so much comfort to others.

the delivery guys all know my dogs here and have trouble around them lol I think being in tn they are used to dogs more than some areas though lol

My mailman will not deliver mail because of my mini dasch..... She LOVES everyone.  Some people are really weirded out by dogs.  The shepherds don't bark, sooo he would be traumatized if he was aware of the larger beasts just beyond that wooden door...  Now the dobe curled up under my desk might just give a stroke!!  His replacement mail carrier (holidays, stats etc) will not go past my house without stopping to have his morning chat with mz.weiner.(even if i have no mail)  Some people LOVE dogs and others just can't be bothered.

My FedX guys don't drop off the packages at the house, I have a drop shack at one of the lane entrances. Anyhow, one of my fence lines boarder the drop shack. This pasture is main corral where all pastured horses can corral at free will.

I was expecting an important package so I stuck around the shack once. The horses knew he was coming because I could hear all 23 of them whinnying while running along the treeline. LOL They stayed outta sight of the shack though.

When dude walks into the shack with the package, the horses breeze-lined to the fence @ the shack, dude comes running out, falling, screaming and totally scared these horses would bust threw the fence and pumble him. LMAO I couldn't help but buckle over and laugh my lungs out.

After all the ruckus, I walked over to his truck to talk with him. This guy was literally afraid of horses. He told me it's their size that scares him. I explained to him they really are cool animals, he refused to even approach the fence to pet one. Ohh well.

My horses are funny too because they love the sound of my diesel engines, they know when they go bye byes it's the diesel truck that take them .. soo when ever they hear one they all get a blazing. LOL

Too funny.

Many years ago when I had my front yard fenced with wraught iron fencing, the mail man would stop and watch the germans at the front fence.

One day a stray gsd followed his truck down the road and he said OH NO! not one of the ladies dogs out..He ask the neighbor to call me and no one home so they called  AC.

Hattie took two days to capture the gsd and in the mean time a cranky neighbor reported MY DOG was threatening her and scratched her truck..

Was not my gsd. AC knew that..THe lady filed charges on me..HA HA HA

THE day of court, I represented my self, and even my attorney stood in lobby waiting for this one..Everyone in city HAll knew Hattie had picked up a stray gsd..SO on the stand , one fact amazed me..Hatte proved it was not my gsd   of course, Hattie and head of GAL CO> ANimal control both owned one of my gsd also.

But the sentence she advised the lady and her husband who filed this lie or error tells the public a whole lot    "  Maam...Most postmen here in Texas City will tell you they have been bit by more Chichuahua;s and Cocker Spaniels than by German Shepherds..In fact, the Police Chiefs own  BEAGLE bit a local mailman stepping inside his fence to put mail in a box.."

I chuckled.
