Some of you may have read the story of my most recent addition of a young puppy and how she was "unwanted" and was dropped off in my yard at which time she was believed to be 7 months ...this Saturday I took her in for temper evaluation and general overview to a local professional and after looking at her and her teeth, etc..he stated that she is currently at MOST 18 weeks old...and that would explain a lot...lack of focus, slow command response...and per his opinion if she already does the things she was trained by me she has a very promising future...
so I am happy to say that my 32 pound puppy is not 7 months but 4.5 months....
here are some photos...
and of course...i had to add this one...butt on the bed while the rest of the body of the floor...

In a dog like a GSD, the rear dewclaw can be easily injuried, torn off, or if the attachment to the leg is solid (sometimes they're floppy, not attached by any bone) that bone can break--injuries to dewclaws are very painful. Some breeds require the rear dewclaw (or even double rear dewclaws) and don't have problems with injuries, so she might very well never have any problems with them.
I think I'd watch them and maybe ask the vet to remove them if she is under anesthesia for another reason, such as a spay.
