Will this bitch produce only sables?

I was told she will only produce sable unless bred to a solid black, than she could possibily produce sables and solid black.

It all depends on whether she is homozygous sable or if she is carrying a recessive gene for other color.

The way I understand it (and I could be totally wrong), sable is a dominant gene.  So a sable dog could have a sable gene and a black gene (recessive) but would have a sable coat.  You'd need to know if any of the ancestors carried the recessive black gene or have the bitch's dna tested (I have no idea if this is possible which is precisely why I have no business breeding!).  There are other people here that know much more about the specific genetics involved.

Here is a litter with a sable bitch and bi-color male that produced sables, bi-colors and solid blacks.

I also forgot to say that regardless of what dad was bred, to he produced only sables...

Can you post the pedigree?

Okay, Her far grandparents from mother side pictures are not there.
since father only produced sables we can assume he has two sable genes.
From mother side , Xena  could have have inherited sable gene, b/t, bicolor or black
So Xena either has:
two sable genes
one sable and one b/t
one sable and one bicolor
or one sable and one black

theoretically she will definately produce sables but could produce other colors if the male dog she mates has a  gene other than sable and she too has a recessive gene other than the sable.
The chance is there she could produce other colors but slim. She could only produce black if the male has it and she also does have it.
