Kczaja:

I give you a lot more credit than to ever use a pic like that..

What  you put up to the public is what you must believe looks good. Unbelievable anyone would use a picture like that.

foreign or not.

If the poster has no more knowledge of how to market the product , then I do not want even to wonder what it really looks like..You still see what you see...why is dog pulling its brains out. ?

I never had a dog look like that even my Konig who would dig the ground up to get to a helper , when he started blinds, he had to learn  do not even move till told...but until he drug me accross Gal. Cou park a few times,,he didnt look like that when he forged..sorry but I can't buy that dog ever having good structure.

Both are dogs, and both deserving of respect for their lives and species, plus good caring homes.

Photographs of dogs, obviously, are no more than photgraphs of dogs.

They convey something, but not very much.

And they do not convey at all what is most important about any dog, which a photograph can never contain.

Obamabarrack88,
Not trying to start trouble, but maybe the best people to question about these animals in the ads posted are the owners of the ads.....Might be best to give them the chance to defend or explain the reasons for the confirmation of the animal they are advertising.....JMO

When I first came to this site I tried to ask one serious question: when the standard says "straight back" how can anyone breed dogs with such an obvious fault?  I was hollered at non stop by show dog breeders that "I just don't like them" so just leave it alone. I never got a straight or honest awnser.  Now, I asked about Shiloh shepherds and through the hysteria one shiloh shepherd person sent me a very informative and interesting PM that explained just about everything I was wondering.  I am still waiting for the "SL" people to do the same.

I don't think it is "starting trouble" to point out an obviously deformed pup (as the above pup is) and ask, WHY?

The PETA folks are already zeroing on the shepherd as a classic example of a breed crippled by show breeding. It is an issue that needs to be discussed (calmly and rationally) bty ALL shepherd breeders so that the policing can come from within - not without, like from PETA (which is already happening in the UK!)

So, again, at the risk of getting flamed (no big deal if I do) I'll ask again: why is it desirable to breed a dog whose back "breaks" at the point where the vertabrae change direction?  Especially considering it is absolutely against the standard?  And please don't tell me that EVERY SINGLE EXAMPLE GIVEN is "not typical" because around here, it is!

every specimen of the GSD which is crippled and is a hideous beast  both in structure and temperament should be annihilated period!!!!

Diane,  I understand what you are saying. I just thought that since this forum has been very quiet and without all the "knife throwing", that maybe it could continue..Since the original poster is posting links which range from one extreme to the other, the poster is obviously lacking knowledge. Asking questions is great. but You do realize the knife throwing will once again begin.....Thats why I suggested the OPster ask the owner of the ad, and give them the chance to explain....   However I have a feeling this will head in another direction...JMO...

Gotcha.  I just ignore the knife throwing. Its just the same old kids doing it and if you ignore it you can find some great stuff on here.

Its kinda like religion:  If these folks are comfortable with their beliefs, I don't understand why they can't "own" them and discuss them without becoming defensive.
